Is the 2015 Ford F-150 reliable?

The review summary highlights reliability alongside the truck’s strong performance and comfortable ride, which suggests many owners feel confident living with it over time. The expert notes also describe the EcoBoost powertrains as exceptionally reliable and say the maintenance future looks good, even with the added complexity of turbocharging and direct injection.

That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to service history and how the truck was used, because long-term ownership risk depends heavily on maintenance and prior workload.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Ford F-150?

At 66.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you get too far into the process, then prioritize an inspection that checks body condition, repair quality, and signs of hard use. Because this truck can be configured in many ways, focus on whether the specific example matches your needs in cab, bed, and equipment rather than assuming all F-150s are equally equipped.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from XL to Platinum, and the base truck can miss features that matter to you, so compare equipment carefully before you buy.
• Powertrain: Engine choices include a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6, a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, and a 5.0-liter V8; the EcoBoost engines are the standout for torque and strong real-world muscle.
• Safety package: Available driver-assistance tech includes Blind-Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping, Curve Control, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera system, and trailer-focused aids.
• Infotainment: Available MyFordTouch uses an 8-inch touchscreen and can include navigation, Sync hands-free features, and a 5-year trial of SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert observed 16.5 mpg combined, and the truck’s EPA estimate is 17 mpg city/23 highway/19 combined.

Which 2015 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2015 Ford F-150 is offered in 5 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and plan to keep the truck focused on basic utility.
• XLT: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it sits in the middle of the lineup and balances equipment, comfort, and price well.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want a more upscale daily driver with more comfort and convenience features than the lower trims.
• King Ranch: This trim suits you if you want a more distinctive, premium-feeling truck with a stronger luxury lean.
• Platinum: Pick this if you want the most upscale version in the standard lineup and are willing to pay for it.

The safety content also notes that some exclusive safety technologies are available, including inflatable rear seatbelts in the SuperCrew model.

What is the 2015 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $17,718 sits slightly below last year's $19,115.

That decline suggests the market has become a little more buyer-friendly, which can help you if you are shopping now but may pressure future resale if prices keep easing. Even so, the truck’s broad appeal, strong reputation, and wide use in both personal and fleet settings should help support demand over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.68/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2015 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.68/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings aluminum body construction and turbocharged power, which made it a major step forward for the F-150.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $18,874, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $17,718 average.
• It leans harder into luxury with the Limited trim and a more upscale feel.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2015 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and the truck still delivers strong capability, comfort, and tech. If you want a more premium-feeling F-150 and are willing to spend more, the 2016 is the better path.
