Used 2015 Ford Expedition for Sale nearNewark, NJ

How much does the 2015 Ford Expedition cost?

Prices have softened 4.60% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 585 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2015 Ford Expedition a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance, Technology, and Safety.

The 2015 Expedition is a full-size SUV with a familiar, established design rather than a dramatic redesign, and its biggest update is the switch to a more fuel-efficient EcoBoost V6. That makes it a practical fit if you want a large three-row SUV with strong capability, a roomy cabin, and a modernized powertrain without giving up the Expedition’s long-running formula.

33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2015 Ford Expedition reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Expedition’s reliability case is helped by its straightforward, established platform and the fact that Ford’s 2015 update focuses on the powertrain rather than a wholesale redesign. The expert evaluation also points to a smooth ride, solid braking, and a powertrain that does not feel underpowered despite the move away from the V8.

The EcoBoost V6 is a key part of the ownership story, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance records and how the vehicle has been driven and serviced over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Ford Expedition?

At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-mileage examples or trucks that have been used for towing. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the cabin and mechanicals show the kind of wear you’d expect from a large family SUV.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XLT is the base trim and includes manual air conditioning, rear auxiliary climate control, power windows and door locks, a rear-view camera, reverse-sensing system, and seating for eight. Higher trims add more comfort and convenience, with the Limited turning many options standard and the Platinum making nearly everything standard.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost with 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque paired with a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. The move away from the V8 is the defining mechanical change for this model year.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes 6 airbags, rear-door child-safety locks, power 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, a tire pressure monitoring system, SOS post-crash alert system, AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control on RWD versions, trailer sway control, a rear-view camera, and reverse-sensing system. Blind-spot information and cross-traffic alert are available on some trims.
• Infotainment: The XLT uses Sync with MyFord Voice and a 4.2-inch display, while higher trims get Sync with MyFord Touch with an 8-inch touchscreen and a second USB port. Navigation, SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link, and dual headrest DVD systems are available on some trims.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA ratings are 15 mpg city/20 highway/17 combined, and the test-drive average came in at 16.8 mpg.

Which 2015 Ford Expedition trim should I buy?

The 2015 Ford Expedition is offered in 8 trim levels: XLT, XLT EL, XLT Premium, Limited, Limited EL, King Ranch, Platinum, and Platinum EL.

Here's the short version:

• XLT: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Expedition experience with the EcoBoost V6, seating for eight, a rear-view camera, reverse sensing, and the basic Sync with MyFord Voice system. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup, but it is also the most basic in tech and comfort.
• XLT EL: Choose this if you want the longer wheelbase without moving up the equipment ladder. It keeps the same standard features as the XLT, so it is mainly about extra space rather than added luxury.
• XLT Premium: This is the best-value step up if you want more comfort without jumping all the way to the luxury trims. It adds dual-zone automatic climate control, a premium audio setup with subwoofer, a leather-wrapped shift knob, and woodgrain trim accents.
• Limited: This is the sweet spot for many shoppers because it turns many desirable features standard, including heated and cooled front seats, HD Radio, a power liftgate, second-row heated outboard seats, remote start, and forward sensing. It also upgrades the infotainment setup to Sync with MyFord Touch.
• Limited EL: Pick this if you want the Limited’s equipment with the longer wheelbase. It adds space, but not extra features beyond the standard Limited.
• King Ranch: This is the style-and-luxury choice, with Mesa Brown leather, unique exterior badging, power deployable running boards, a power moonroof, and more distinctive interior treatment. It suits you if you want the most character-rich Expedition.
• Platinum: This is the top luxury trim and makes nearly every major feature standard, with the few remaining options limited to items like all-weather floor mats, dual headrest DVD systems, second-row reclining bucket seats, and 4WD. It is the right pick if you want the most fully equipped version.
• Platinum EL: Choose this if you want the Platinum’s full luxury content plus the longer wheelbase.

The safety equipment is strong across the lineup, with standard rear-view camera and reverse sensing, while blind-spot information and cross-traffic alert remain optional on some trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Ford Expedition?

The market looks moderately favorable if you are selective and willing to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 585 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.60% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,265, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Ford Expedition's resale value?

The current average of $11,587 sits slightly below last year's $12,147.

That softer pricing suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make it easier for you to purchase now but may also mean future resale gains are limited unless the vehicle is especially clean and well maintained. If you buy carefully and keep service records, you can help protect value when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Ford Expedition safe?

The 2015 Ford Expedition earns five-star overall NHTSA ratings, with five-star frontal and side crash ratings on all models. RWD versions earn three-star rollover ratings, while 4WD models earn four-star rollover ratings.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Expedition’s standard safety equipment includes 6 airbags, rear-door child-safety locks, power 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, a tire pressure monitoring system, SOS post-crash alert system, a rear-view camera, and reverse-sensing system. AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control is standard on RWD versions, and trailer sway control is also standard.

You can also get blind-spot information, cross-traffic alert, and forward sensing on some trims. The main caveat is the lower rollover rating on RWD models, so if safety is a top priority, the 4WD versions are the stronger choice.

Should I buy a 2015 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from the summary: Ford replaces the V8 with a more fuel-efficient EcoBoost V6, making this model year notable for its mechanical update.

The bottom line: The 2015 Expedition makes the most sense if you want the updated EcoBoost V6, a roomy full-size SUV, and a market that currently favors shoppers more than sellers. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can shop aggressively for a clean, well-kept example; if you want more modern tech and convenience, a newer year may be worth considering.
