CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Ford Escape
overall

Summary
With 2,126 currently listed for sale and an average price of $8,164, 29.2% of 2015 Ford Escape listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Ford Escape 4.36 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.
64.2% of 2015 Ford Escape listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Ford Escape stands out as a friendly, approachable family crossover that is easy to live with and fuel-conscious. It also has a more upscale side, since it can be loaded with luxury and technology and is described as driving like a million bucks. That combination of everyday practicality and a more polished feel is a big part of its appeal.
What makes the 2015 Ford Escape distinctive is how it fits the modern crossover formula: it is car-based and car-like, yet still offers extra ride height, a handy liftgate, and superior cargo space versus a sedan with a trunk. The Escape also grew beyond its original boxy, earnest compact-crossover roots into something more stylish and refined, which helps explain why it remains attractive to buyers looking for a versatile vehicle that does not feel plain or utilitarian.
Owner feedback reinforces that appeal, with praise for value for money, performance, power, and functionality. Some drivers especially liked the features in the Titanium model, while others noted that interior storage space could be disappointing and that there were a few reliability concerns.

It has a 2.5L naturally aspirated motor. The two smaller motors Ford used are not as reliable. This motor is very reliable. Plenty of interior room and trunk space. Very happy with the car.

I would only buy an escape with the 2.5 l naturally aspirated engine which is what this had. It was a one owner car with 140k. So far I'm very happy with it and it was priced under KBB retail numbers.

2015 is the body style and features I like. Great gas mileage and room to haul stuff.

The titanium package is wonderful. The large touch display is amazing. There are sensors all around the car which help you back up, hands free open the liftgate, and even lock your door simply by touching a sensor. The manual states some cars have blind spot recognition which my car does not have, and automatic parallel parking which my car also does not have. There are 2 recalls on my vehicle. One for a transmission bushing which made a noticeable improvement in my car, and a 2nd for a door lock which apparently can open even while driving. Scary but i was assured wouldnt actually happed. Im still super new to the vehicle but so far I love it. I love the back up camera. The car beeps when you start getting close to something which is great. My tire size is 235 45 19. The tires arent common so you pay a premium for them. My mechanic who has been in buisness for 40 years did not have the adapter for the lug nuts. The lugs on the car are a real specialty so if you snap one off or lose the adapter your probably screwed. Also having to put on a spare would be tough since my tire iron wont work on this vehicle. As far as driving i love the car. I love being up higher. Its nice to be up a little bit for your morning cup of coffee. Its nice that you dont have to step down into it. It seems to handle well. No issues accelerating up hills. The engine is fit for the task at hand. The car also has a hill assist so you wont have to worry about slightly rolling down a hill while you switch from breaks to gas.

How much does the 2015 Ford Escape cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $8,161 |
| Year-Round Low | $8,161 |
| Year-Round High | $8,751 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $8,730 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.52% |
Prices have softened 6.52% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,115 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2015 Ford Escape a good car?
Generally — the 2015 Ford Escape earns a 4.36/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise its value for money, performance, power, and functionality, and many also like the Titanium model’s features. It fits your needs well if you want a friendly, approachable family crossover that is easy to live with, fuel-conscious, and still capable of feeling more upscale when equipped well. The market also shows 30.4% of listings as good or great deals, which supports its appeal for shoppers who want a well-rounded compact crossover without overpaying.
Is the 2015 Ford Escape reliable?
Owners rate it 4.36/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a vehicle that many owners found dependable and worth counting on, with strong marks for value and performance. The expert evaluation also describes it as a solid, responsive crossover that drives with confidence and feels expensive on the road. Ford’s maintenance-friendly ownership story is helped by the fact that the Escape requires only regular fuel.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some listings may carry reliability concerns, so condition and service history matter.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Ford Escape?
At 64% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on this model year because accident history can affect both long-term durability and resale value. Focus your inspection on bodywork quality, panel alignment, and signs that the vehicle has been maintained consistently.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Escape has three trim levels: S, SE, and Titanium. The S is the most basic, with manual cloth seats, air conditioning, a 6-speaker audio system, and a manual liftgate, while the Titanium adds full leather-trimmed seats with heated, power-adjustable front buckets and a liftgate that opens with a wiggle of a foot under the rear bumper.
- Powertrain: The Escape can be equipped with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder, a 1.6-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder, or a 2.0-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder. The EcoBoost engines use turbocharging and direct injection, and the 2.0-liter version is the strongest, with 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque.
- Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts is a key safety technology, along with electronic stability control, a rear-view camera, and Curve Control. Active Park Assist is also available, but the small overlap frontal test result is a major caution.
- Infotainment: MyFordTouch uses a quadrant-style central display and includes Sync for voice control. An available 390-watt Sony audio system adds Bluetooth, USB, auxiliary input, HD Radio, and SiriusXM support.
Which 2015 Ford Escape trim should I buy?
The 2015 Ford Escape is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, and Titanium.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the simplest way into the Escape, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost entry point and do not need upscale features. It comes with the 2.5-liter engine, a 6-speed automatic transmission, manual cloth seats, air conditioning, a 6-speaker audio system, and a manual liftgate.
- SE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine and a more complete equipment mix without jumping all the way to Titanium. It is the trim to target if you want the strongest balance of price, features, and everyday usability.
- Titanium: This is the right pick if you want the most upscale Escape experience, with leather-trimmed seats, heated and power-adjustable front buckets, and the hands-free liftgate. It suits you best if comfort and convenience matter more than keeping the purchase price down.
The safety package includes blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts, plus electronic stability control, a rear-view camera, and Curve Control.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Ford Escape?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,115 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.52% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 64.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $8,161, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Ford Escape's resale value?
The current average of $8,161 sits slightly below last year's $8,730.
That price movement suggests the Escape has softened enough to give used buyers some leverage, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who pays closer to the top of the range. Listings with desirable equipment and clean history should hold up better than rougher examples.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.36/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Ford Escape safe?
The Escape earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, five-star ratings for side crash protection, and a Poor rating in the small overlap frontal collision test.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
The safety equipment includes electronic stability control, a rear-view camera, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts, and Curve Control. Active Park Assist is another helpful technology feature. The main caveat is the Poor small overlap frontal result, which is a meaningful weakness you should weigh carefully if safety is a top priority.
Should I buy a 2015 Ford Escape or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.52% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.36/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2015 combines a polished ride with strong turbocharged performance and upscale available features.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $8,887, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $8,161 average.
- It adds Sync 3, a newer infotainment system that improves the tech experience.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2015 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to spend more for a newer infotainment setup, the 2016 is the cleaner upgrade path.
