Is the 2015 Dodge Challenger a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.9/5 user-rated car with an 8.3/10 expert score. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its impressive power, retro design, comfort, and eye-catching looks. That lines up with the Challenger’s use case as a stylish, easy-to-live-with coupe that still gives you racy performance in R/T and SRT trim. If you want a car with personality that works for everyday driving, this model year fits that brief well.

Good and great deals account for 28.7% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Dodge Challenger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels impressive, comfortable, and appealing enough that people keep coming back to it. The expert notes also describe the chassis and powertrains as well proven, with most of the bugs worked out, which supports the idea that this is a car you can count on if it has been maintained properly. The Challenger’s everyday livability and roomy packaging also help it feel like a dependable long-term choice rather than a fragile specialty car.

The main ownership risk for used buyers is making sure the specific car you choose has been cared for, since condition and maintenance history matter more than the model’s broad reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Dodge Challenger?

At 55.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-performance trim. Pay close attention to body condition, tire wear, and signs of hard use, since the Challenger’s performance-oriented versions can be driven more aggressively than the average coupe. It’s also smart to focus on visibility, interior condition, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim you’re paying for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Challenger’s styling was mildly updated for 2015 with a new split grille, halo rings for the headlamps, a new hood, and redesigned taillights, while the car’s broad range of configurations means equipment can vary a lot by trim.
• Powertrain: V6-powered Challengers have at least 305 hp, while the SRT 392 uses a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque; the car is rear-wheel drive and can be paired with a manual or automatic transmission depending on trim.
• Safety package: The Challenger can include blind-spot monitoring, rear-view cameras, adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high beams, and configurable drive modes; some of these aids are trim-dependent.
• Infotainment: The Challenger uses an 8.4-inch display with UConnect navigation, touchscreen and voice input, smartphone pairing, Bluetooth, USB and auxiliary inputs, and available internet-connected features.
• Fuel efficiency: A V6 Challenger will return up to 30 mpg highway, while the SRT 392 returned 16 mpg in mixed driving and requires 91-octane fuel.

Which 2015 Dodge Challenger trim should I buy?

The 2015 Dodge Challenger is offered in 7 trim levels: SXT, R/T, SRT 392, SRT Hellcat, and the other basic configurations explicitly referenced in the model’s trim lineup.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point if you want the Challenger’s retro style and everyday livability at the lowest price, and it’s the trim that best fits budget-minded shoppers who care more about the look and space than maximum performance.
• R/T: This is the best-value choice for many buyers because it adds the Hemi V8 character and the manual-transmission appeal that make the Challenger feel special without jumping all the way to the top-performance models.
• SRT 392: This is the pick if you want the strongest blend of serious performance, upgraded brakes, adaptive suspension, and the most complete enthusiast hardware short of the Hellcat.
• SRT Hellcat: This is the choice if outright power is your priority and you want the most extreme version of the Challenger’s personality.

The safety-tech content shows that advanced driver aids are available, but some features are trim-dependent, so verify the exact equipment on any used example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Dodge Challenger?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,114 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.91% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,243, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Dodge Challenger's resale value?

The current average of $21,008 sits slightly below last year's $21,639.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more selectively now. For a future seller, it also means resale will likely depend heavily on trim, condition, and how well the car has been maintained. Higher-performance versions should remain more desirable than volume trims, especially if they’re clean and well documented.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Dodge Challenger safe?

The 2015 Challenger has not been crash-tested yet, but earlier model years earned five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Challenger’s safety tech can include blind-spot monitoring, rear-view cameras, adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. That said, limited visibility is a recurring drawback, so you should pay close attention to how well the car’s driver aids and camera systems work on the specific vehicle you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2015 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 refresh adds a mildly updated exterior with a new split grille, halo rings, and redesigned taillights.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $23,724, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $21,008 average.
• It adds a shaker hood and fresh trim and wheel options.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, style, and broad availability, the 2015 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to spend more for a slightly newer take with extra visual flair, the 2016 is the better alternative.

How does the 2015 Dodge Challenger compare to the 2015 Ford Mustang?

Our experts score the 2015 Dodge Challenger 8.3/10 and the 2015 Ford Mustang 7.3/10.

The Challenger is the roomier, more comfort-oriented choice, while the Mustang is the cheaper and slightly more efficient option. You also get stronger expert praise for the Challenger’s technology and a more relaxed everyday personality, but the Mustang’s lower average used price and larger listing pool may make it easier to shop. If you want retro style with more livability, the Challenger has the edge; if you want a lower entry price, the Mustang is the value play.
