Is the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4.25/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal for shoppers who want a midsize pickup that feels easier to live with than a full-size truck. The Colorado’s overview emphasizes a more affordable, more manageable truck with modern styling, safety, and plenty of technology, and the user feedback echoes that with praise for the strong V6 engine, comfortable ride, and versatility. That combination makes it a strong fit if you want pickup utility without giving up everyday comfort. 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado reliable?

The cost-effectiveness notes add that scheduled maintenance is included for the first 2 years/24,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure any example you consider has been maintained well and doesn’t have unresolved transmission concerns.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Chevrolet Colorado?

At 62.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from trucks with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on drivetrain behavior, suspension condition, and signs of hard use, since pickups often see mixed-duty lives. It also makes sense to pay close attention to trim-specific equipment so you know whether the truck you’re considering has the features you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim is the most stripped-down version, with an Extended cab, a 6-foot-2-inch long box, rear-wheel drive, a 6-speed manual transmission, and a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. It includes useful basics like a rear-view camera, 4.2-inch color display, and a 4-way power driver’s seat, while the WT, LT, and Z71 add more body-style flexibility and equipment. If you want the best value, the WT is the trim to compare carefully because it opens up more configuration and engine choices without jumping straight to the top end.
• Powertrain: The Colorado starts with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, while higher trims can be equipped with an optional 3.6-liter V6. The V6 is described as strong and quiet, and it pairs with fuel-economy figures of 17 mpg city/24 highway/20 combined in the tester, while the 2.5-liter RWD models are noted at 27 mpg highway.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, StabiliTrak electronic stability control with traction control, airbags including side head curtains, and a rear-vision camera. Available driver aids include forward-collision alert and lane-departure warnings, and OnStar adds automatic crash response, stolen-vehicle assistance, roadside assistance, and turn-by-turn navigation.
• Infotainment: The LT brings Chevrolet MyLink with an 8-inch color touchscreen, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, SiriusXM, OnStar connectivity, and 4G LTE capability with a built-in mobile hotspot. The system also supports Siri Eyes Free, text messaging, and USB connectivity.
• Fuel efficiency: The tester returned 17 mpg city/24 highway/20 combined, and the cost-effectiveness notes also cite 27 mpg highway for 2.5-liter RWD models and 26 mpg highway for 3.6-liter RWD models.

Which 2015 Chevrolet Colorado trim should I buy?

The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, WT, LT and Z71.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the bargain entry point, and it gives you the essentials at the lowest price. You get the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, rear-wheel drive, a manual transmission, and a useful standard safety and convenience set, including a rear-view camera and stability control. It makes sense if you want the cheapest path into a Colorado and can live without extra comfort or configuration flexibility.
• WT: This trim is the practical step up because it opens the door to the optional 3.6-liter V6 and more transmission choices depending on body style. It’s the trim to focus on if you want a work-ready truck with more flexibility than the Base without paying for the LT’s added tech and comfort features.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the biggest everyday upgrades: an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, OnStar, SiriusXM, and more comfort and convenience features. If you want the Colorado to feel modern and easy to live with, this is the trim to target.
• Z71: This is the most feature-rich version, adding a Z71 off-road suspension package, automatic locking rear differential, hill descent control, front recovery hooks, projector-beam headlamps, fog lamps, remote start, and more. It’s the right pick if you want the most capability and equipment, but it’s not the value leader.

Safety-wise, the Colorado includes standard rear-vision camera equipment, while forward-collision alert and lane-departure warnings are available rather than standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Chevrolet Colorado?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and enough deal activity to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 913 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,620, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado's resale value?

The current average of $15,849 sits slightly below last year's $17,150.

That softer pricing suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make the truck easier to purchase now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the truck in strong condition, because a lower entry price can help preserve your margin later. The Colorado’s broad appeal as a comfortable, versatile midsize pickup should help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.25/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado safe?

The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado had yet to be rated by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) at the time of this review, so crash test ratings were unavailable.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, airbags including side head curtains, StabiliTrak stability control with traction control, and a standard rear-vision camera. Available driver-assistance features include forward-collision alert and lane-departure warnings, while OnStar adds automatic crash response, stolen-vehicle assistance, and roadside assistance. For used buyers, the main safety takeaway is that you should verify which assistance features are actually installed on the truck you’re considering, since some are optional rather than standard.

Should I buy a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.25/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It returns after a 3-year hiatus and brings a more affordable, more manageable midsize-truck formula.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $16,958, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $15,849 average.
• It adds a diesel engine option.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2015 is the stronger starting point because it combines lower pricing with solid owner satisfaction and a broad mix of trims. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2016 is worth a look for shoppers specifically interested in its diesel option.
