CarGurus Analysis: 2015 BMW 3 Series
overall

Summary
With 98 currently listed for sale near Tucson, AZ and an average price of $10,999.00, 19.4% of 2015 BMW 3 Series for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 BMW 3 Series 4.73 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.
67.3% of 2015 BMW 3 Series models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 BMW 3 Series stands out as a sport luxury sedan that still carries the brand’s long-running reputation for sharp driving dynamics. Its tight, precise chassis remains part of the appeal, and the engine is described as wonderfully powerful, giving the car the kind of performance that has long defined the nameplate. At the same time, the source makes clear that extracting that character takes some effort, which suggests this is a car aimed at drivers who want more than just comfortable commuting.
It is also a model with a more focused identity than before, since the 2015 BMW 3 Series is now purely a sedan. That helps sharpen its mission, but it also places it in a highly competitive segment where BMW no longer has the same easy dominance it once did. The biggest drawback is price: the car’s strengths come at a cost, and the source notes that both the performance and the overall package can be expensive to buy. Owners generally echo the appeal, praising the solid build quality, impressive handling, luxurious interior, and smooth driving experience, while some point to fuel economy, backseat space, and the lack of Android integration as downsides.

Really enjoyed owning this car, driving experience was good. Tech was good and great mileage. The only downside was oil leaks once you pass 100,000 miles other than that it was reliable, I always made it home never had to use roadside assistance.

That said, a few owners mention oil leaks after high mileage, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance records and signs of deferred upkeep.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 BMW 3 Series?
At 53.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or multiple owners. Focus on panel alignment, paint consistency, tire wear, and evidence of regular maintenance, since condition matters a lot on a performance-oriented luxury sedan. If the car has higher mileage, pay extra attention to fluid leaks and signs of hard use.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Standard equipment includes the same poised sedan silhouette across the lineup, while available upgrades range from basic interior trim to leather, navigation, heated front seats, parking assistance, and M-badged touches. The base setup is more stripped down, so you’ll want to compare packages carefully if you care about comfort and convenience.
- Powertrain: You can find 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder, and 2.0-liter turbodiesel options, with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and automatic or manual transmissions depending on configuration. The 328 is described as the best balance for many buyers, while the 335 delivers the strongest performance.
- Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes antilock brakes, front and rear head protection systems, airbags for driver and passenger, and emergency notification systems. Driver-assist packages can add blind-spot monitoring, rear- and top-view cameras, lane-departure warnings, and adaptive cruise control.
- Infotainment: ConnectedDrive is straightforward to use, and navigation can be added with a larger screen and heads-up display. Bluetooth audio streaming, satellite radio, and some camera features are tied to separate packages, so base cars can feel light on tech.
- Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-liter turbo with an 8-speed automatic returns 24 mpg city/36 highway/28 combined, while the 3.0-liter turbo with a manual returns 20/28/23. The turbodiesel is rated at 32/45/37, and all-wheel drive reduces mileage by roughly 5 percent.
Which 2015 BMW 3 Series trim should I buy?
The 2015 BMW 3 Series is offered in 3 trim levels: 320, 328, 335.
Here's the short version:
- 320: This is the entry point, but it leans hardest on the chassis to make up for the smaller engine. It makes sense if you want the BMW driving feel at the lowest price, but it’s the least convincing choice for buyers who expect strong acceleration.
- 328: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a noticeable power bump and is described as the ideal balance for plenty of buyers. If you want the sweet spot between performance and everyday usability, this is the one to target.
- 335: This is the enthusiast pick, with the strongest turbocharged six-cylinder and the most dramatic performance. Choose it if you want the quickest, most rewarding version and are willing to pay more for it.
There are no optional safety systems, but driver-assist packages are available for blind-spot monitoring, cameras, and Active Driving Assistant features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 BMW 3 Series?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,411 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.10% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 53.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $10,586.34, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 BMW 3 Series's resale value?
The current average of $10,680 sits slightly below last year's $11,496.
That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that this model year is not showing strong price appreciation, so holding costs matter. If you buy well and maintain the car carefully, you can help protect value, but you should not expect a strong short-term rebound.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 BMW 3 Series safe?
The 2015 BMW 3 Series earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, including five-star ratings in side collision and rollover crash tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety also gave it strong ratings in all crash tests except the small-overlap front test, which earned a marginal rating.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
BMW includes standard antilock brakes, front and rear head protection systems, airbags for driver and passenger, and emergency notification systems. Available driver-assist packages add blind-spot monitoring, rear- and top-view cameras, lane-departure warnings, and adaptive cruise control. The small-overlap front crash result is the main caveat to keep in mind.
Should I buy a 2015 BMW 3 Series or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 53.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.10% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2015 is now purely a sedan, sharpening its mission but keeping the focus on driving dynamics.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $10,210, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $10,680 average.
- It delivers balanced handling, punchy acceleration, and a polished, controlled feel.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $11,842, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $10,680 average.
- It emphasizes driving enjoyment with a four-door sports-car feel and strong everyday usability.
The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, owner satisfaction, and available inventory, the 2015 is the primary year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2014 is the smarter value play, while the 2016 makes sense if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling take on the same formula.
