CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Acura MDX

Summary
With 52 currently listed for sale and an average price of $11,995, 19.2% of 2015 Acura MDX listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Acura MDX 4.6 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2015 Acura MDX stands out as a three-row luxury SUV that blends comfort, practicality, and a strong reputation for quality. Acura’s MDX has long been known for offering a roomy cabin and a useful third row, and this generation also brought a more feature-rich, upscale feel than many buyers expected in the segment. It is closely tied to the Honda Pilot underneath, but the MDX has always been positioned with a more premium, sportier personality.
For this generation, Acura gave the MDX a re-engineered 3.5-liter V6 rated at 290 horsepower, along with a nine-speed automatic that was added in 2016 to help boost economy. The MDX also offered front-wheel drive for the first time, while the Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive version earned a 21 mpg combined EPA rating. Inside, it came with a dual-screen infotainment setup, and Acura gradually added features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, ventilated seats, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking. The 2015 model year is also one of the MDX years often singled out for strong reliability, which adds to its appeal as a used buy.
There are tradeoffs, though. The infotainment system was not especially easy to use, and the third row is still small. The third-generation MDX also lost some interior room compared with the previous version, including less second-row legroom and reduced cargo space. Even so, for buyers who want a comfortable, well-equipped, and dependable three-row luxury SUV, the 2015 Acura MDX remains an appealing choice.

How much does the 2015 Acura MDX cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $13,114 |
| Year-Round Low | $13,061 |
| Year-Round High | $14,198 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $13,986 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.23% |
Prices have softened 6.23% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 920 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and conditions.
Is the 2015 Acura MDX a good car?
Yes — the 4.6/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its reliability, spaciousness, and performance, and many also like the comfortable seating and advanced technologies. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a three-row luxury SUV that balances comfort, practicality, and a premium feel. With 34.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful shopping opportunity in the market.
Is the 2015 Acura MDX reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also emphasizes reliability, and the model is described as dependable and trouble-free by many shoppers. That matters if you want a used luxury SUV you can count on for long-term ownership rather than one that feels risky to keep past the first few years.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Acura MDX?
At 57.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection and pay close attention to overall condition, especially signs of past repairs, interior wear, and how well the technology and seating features work.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Acura MDX?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without rushing.
- Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 920 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.23% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,061, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Acura MDX's resale value?
The current average of $13,114 sits slightly below last year's $13,986.
That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also suggests resale values have eased compared with a year ago. If you plan to sell later, your best protection is choosing a clean, well-kept example with strong documentation and avoiding vehicles with accident history or visible wear.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2015 Acura MDX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 57.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.23% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $12,124, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $13,114 average.
- It offers a more refined, broadly appealing driving experience.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $14,414, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $13,114 average.
- It adds a new 9-speed automatic and emphasizes safety and refinement.
The bottom line: The 2015 is the best all-around path if you want a well-liked, well-equipped MDX with strong owner satisfaction and a softer price than a year ago. If your priority is saving money, the 2014 is the better value play; if you want the newer-year updates and are willing to pay more, the 2016 is the alternative to compare.
