How much does the 2014 Toyota RAV4 cost?

Prices are up 2.88% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,885 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Toyota RAV4 earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 8/10.

Drivers consistently praise its reliability, smooth driving experience, and spacious interior. The review summary also points to practical appeal from the AWD setup and good gas mileage, which fits the RAV4’s role as an easygoing crossover for everyday use.

That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a roomy, versatile vehicle that prioritizes utility over flash. If you want a practical crossover rather than something sporty, the RAV4’s broad appeal makes sense.

33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary emphasizes reliability, and it also describes the RAV4 as a practical choice that many drivers trust for daily use. The expert evaluation reinforces that dependable character, calling it a practical option and a dependable choice for whatever you ask of it.

The cost-effectiveness commentary also supports that view by framing it as a good family option at the base price, especially when you value space and utility. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that safety and power compromises can matter more as mileage and wear add up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota RAV4?

At 54.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with visible cosmetic wear. Focus on how the vehicle has been maintained, how it drives, and whether any prior damage was repaired cleanly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Limited trim adds the most equipment, including the Entune JBL media system with Navigation and the Technology Package with blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alerts, and auto high beams. Base trims are much simpler, so you should pay close attention to feature gaps if those systems matter to you.
• Powertrain: The RAV4 uses a 176-hp 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder with a 6-speed automatic. It’s tuned for everyday commuting and city driving, but acceleration is modest and passing power is limited.
• Safety package: The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alerts, and auto high beams. Those features are limited to the Limited trim with that package.
• Infotainment: The Limited trim’s Entune JBL multimedia system includes apps and services, and the screen supports navigation and voice recognition. The system can be finicky, and the tech features are tied to the Limited trim with the Technology Package.
• Fuel efficiency: The RAV4 is rated at 24 mpg city and 31 highway with FWD, while AWD is rated at 22 mpg city and 29 highway.

Which 2014 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2014 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 1 trim level: Limited.

Here's the short version:

The Limited is the trim to target if you want the most complete version of this RAV4, especially because it’s the one tied to the richer infotainment and safety tech. It adds the Entune JBL multimedia system with Navigation, and with the Technology Package it brings blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alerts, and auto high beams. If you want the most features in one package, this is the trim that best fits that goal.

The safety-package note matters here: those driver-assistance features are available only on the Limited with the Technology Package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota RAV4?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,885 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.88% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 54.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,846, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $13,549 sits slightly above last year's $13,169.

That upward move suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year. If you’re planning to sell later, steady pricing can help support your asking price, especially if your vehicle has been well maintained and presents cleanly.

The RAV4’s practical reputation also helps it stay relevant with used buyers who want space and utility. Strong demand for dependable crossovers can make resale easier when your vehicle has a good history and solid condition.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 safe?

The 2014 Toyota RAV4 earns a four-star rating for frontal crash protection and rollover from NHTSA, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests. The IIHS gave it a Poor rating in the small-overlap frontal-offset crash test, though it earned Good ratings in other IIHS tests.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety equipment includes 8 airbags, full-length curtain airbags, a driver’s-knee airbag, Whiplash-Injury-Lessening Seats, and stability and traction control. The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alerts, and auto high beams, but those features are limited to the Limited trim with that package.

The main caveat is the weak small-overlap result and the unimpressive braking performance noted in testing. If safety is a top priority, you should pay close attention to crash history, repair quality, and whether the vehicle has the available driver-assistance features.

Should I buy a 2014 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.88% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 RAV4 offers class-leading cargo capacity and a dependable, practical character.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $14,646, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $13,549 average.
• It brings improved crash-test ratings and a more appealing overall package.

The bottom line: If you want the lower-priced option, the 2014 makes sense because it delivers the core RAV4 strengths at a more accessible average price. If safety improvements matter more than saving money, the 2015 is the better path.
