How much does the 2014 Toyota RAV4 cost?

Prices are up 4.03% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,847 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Yes — 4.88/5. The expert rating is 6.5/10, and the standout strength is Form and function at 8/10.

Drivers consistently praise its reliability, smooth driving experience, and spacious interior. The user feedback also points to good gas mileage and practical everyday usefulness, which fits the RAV4’s role as a utility-first crossover. That makes it a strong match if you want a roomy, easygoing SUV that prioritizes cargo space and day-to-day versatility over excitement.

There are 31.9% good or great deals in the market, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly highlights reliability and a dependable, practical ownership experience, with many drivers describing it as a vehicle they can count on. The expert evaluation also calls it a dependable option for whatever you ask of it, reinforcing that this is a crossover built around consistency rather than drama. The cost-effectiveness commentary adds that it gets the job done as a family-oriented utility vehicle.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about complexity and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been worn down by age, mileage, or prior damage.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota RAV4?

At 54.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, alignment, and repair quality. Because safety concerns are part of this model year’s story, condition matters more than usual, especially if you’re comparing multiple listings. It’s also smart to focus on how the vehicle drives in everyday use, since the RAV4’s appeal depends heavily on smooth, practical operation.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Limited trim adds the most equipment, including the full Entune JBL multimedia setup and the Technology Package with blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alert, and auto high beams. Base trims are more stripped down, so you should pay close attention to feature gaps if you want the more advanced convenience and safety tech.
• Powertrain: The RAV4 uses a 176-hp 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic. It’s tuned for everyday commuting and efficiency rather than strong passing power, so you should expect relaxed acceleration.
• Safety package: The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alert, and auto high beams. Those features are limited to the Limited trim with that package, so lower trims miss out.
• Infotainment: The Limited trim’s JBL multimedia system includes apps and services, navigation, and a touchscreen interface. The system relies on phone connectivity and a separate app, and the screen can be finicky in bright light.
• Fuel efficiency: AWD is rated at 22 mpg city/29 highway, for a combined EPA rating of 25. FWD is rated at 24/31.

Which 2014 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2014 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 1 trim level: Limited.

Here's the short version:

The Limited: is the trim to target if you want the most complete version of this RAV4. It brings the richest equipment set, including the JBL multimedia system and the available Technology Package, which adds blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alert, and auto high beams. If you want the best-value path in this lineup, this is the one that gives you the most content and the broadest feature coverage.

The safety package is only available on the Limited with the Technology Package, so shoppers who want those driver-assistance features should focus there.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota RAV4?

This looks like a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,847 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.03% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 54.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,846, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $13,845 sits slightly above last year's $13,309.

That upward move suggests the market still values this RAV4’s practicality and reputation. For a future seller, that’s a helpful sign: a model year with steady demand and a relatively stable price floor is easier to resell without taking a major hit. The strong utility story also helps keep it relevant with shoppers who want cargo space and everyday usefulness.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 safe?

The 2014 Toyota RAV4 earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests. It also received the IIHS’s lowest rating of Poor in the small-overlap frontal-offset crash test, though other IIHS tests earned Good ratings.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety equipment includes 8 airbags, full-length curtain airbags, a driver’s-knee airbag, whiplash-injury-lessening seats, and stability and traction control. The available Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alert, and auto high beams, but those features are limited to the Limited trim with that package.

The main caution here is the weak small-overlap result and the model’s unimpressive braking performance, so you should pay close attention to crash history and overall condition when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2014 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.03% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It offers class-leading cargo capacity and a dependable, practical driving experience.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $14,794, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $13,845 average.
• It brings improved crash-test ratings and a more appealing overall package.

The bottom line: If you want the lower-priced option with strong practicality and plenty of inventory, the 2014 makes sense. If safety improvements matter more than saving money, the 2015 is the better path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2014 remains the value play; for shoppers who want the newer safety story, it’s worth stretching to the next year.
