overall

Summary
With 213 currently listed for sale and an average price of $10,558, 33.3% of 2014 Toyota Prius cs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Toyota Prius c 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2014 Toyota Prius c stands out as the smaller, more city-friendly way to get into the Prius family. It is described as a subcompact hybrid based on the same platform as the Toyota Yaris, but with the Prius drivetrain and more attractive, fun packaging. Toyota also positioned it as a more affordable route into the Prius lineup, and the “C” in its name is said to stand for “City,” which fits its urban focus.
That positioning makes the Prius c appealing to buyers who want hybrid efficiency in a compact, easy-to-live-with package rather than a larger Prius variant. The tradeoff is that its appeal is tied closely to value and city use, so it is best understood as a practical, budget-conscious choice within the Prius family rather than a broadly luxurious or spacious one.

Great little commuter car. It gets amazing mpg, easy to drive and park. The hatchback has decent cargo space for groceries etc. In 2 years has been a very reliable vehicle with just routine maintenance needed.

How much does the 2014 Toyota Prius c cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $10,549 |
| Year-Round Low | $9,417 |
| Year-Round High | $10,549 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $9,827 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +7.35% |
Prices are up 7.35% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 209 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2014 Toyota Prius c a good car?
Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7.33/10. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.
The Prius c is framed as the smaller, more city-friendly way into the Prius family, and the overview emphasizes its subcompact size, affordable positioning, and urban focus. That makes it a sensible fit if you want hybrid efficiency in a compact package rather than a larger or more upscale Prius variant.
The market shows 35.4% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2014 Toyota Prius c reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The overview positions the Prius c as a practical, budget-conscious hybrid, and the expert review reinforces that it is built around Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive. The performance writeup also notes regenerative braking and a nickel-metal hydride battery, both of which are part of the car’s core hybrid hardware.
The cost-effectiveness discussion adds that the Prius c is aimed at buyers who can benefit from low fuel use, especially in city driving. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that hybrid-specific repairs can become more expensive than routine maintenance if the car has been neglected.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Prius c?
At 55.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in any collision. Pay close attention to body alignment, sight lines, and rear visibility, since the safety writeup calls out the lack of a backup camera and the potential blind spot behind the car. Condition matters a lot here because the Prius c’s value proposition depends on efficient, low-cost ownership.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base One trim includes Bluetooth hands-free calling, a fold-down rear seat, USB audio port, and remote keyless entry, while the Two adds a 60/40 split-fold rear seat, two-tone seat fabric, and a center-console armrest with storage. The Three adds a touchscreen navigation system, touch-tracer display, and push-button start, and the Four adds fog lights, SofTex heated front seats, and 15-inch alloy wheels.
- Powertrain: The Prius c uses Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive with a 1.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine, a high-output electric motor, and regenerative braking. It is rated at 53 mpg city/46 highway, with 50 mpg combined EPA fuel economy and a real-world combined figure that can drop closer to 46 mpg depending on how you drive.
- Safety package: Nine airbags are standard, including front and side impact airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, and front and rear side curtain airbags. The safety writeup also notes the lack of a standard backup camera.
- Infotainment: The touchscreen navigation system uses a 6.1-inch screen and includes apps such as Pandora, iHeartRadio, weather reports, and web searches through Bing. It also includes advanced voice recognition.
- Fuel efficiency: The Prius c is rated at 53 mpg city/46 highway, with 50 mpg combined EPA fuel economy and an estimated annual fuel cost of $1,050.
Which 2014 Toyota Prius c trim should I buy?
The 2014 Toyota Prius c is offered in 4 trim levels: One, Two, Three, Four.
Here's the short version:
- One: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Prius c experience with Bluetooth hands-free calling, a fold-down rear seat, USB audio, and remote keyless entry. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model.
- Two: This adds a 60/40 split-fold rear seat, two-tone seat fabric, and a center-console armrest with storage, so it is the better everyday-use choice if you want a little more convenience without jumping too far up the price ladder.
- Three: This is the best-value trim if you want the tech the Prius c is known for, because it adds the touchscreen navigation system, touch-tracer display, and push-button start.
- Four: This is the most equipped version, adding fog lights, SofTex heated front seats, and 15-inch alloy wheels for buyers who want the most comfort and appearance upgrades.
Nine airbags are standard across the lineup, but the safety writeup also notes the lack of a standard backup camera.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Prius c?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 209 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 7.35% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 55.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $9,417, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Toyota Prius c's resale value?
The current average of $10,549 sits slightly above last year's $9,827.
That upward move suggests the market has been willing to pay a bit more for this model year, which can help support resale if you buy well and keep the car in good condition. The year-round high matching the current average also suggests pricing has been relatively firm rather than volatile.
Because the Prius c is positioned as a city-friendly, value-focused hybrid, resale should be strongest if your car has clean history, strong maintenance records, and the kind of condition that matches its efficiency-first appeal.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Toyota Prius c safe?
The 2014 Toyota Prius c earns four-star ratings in overall government safety testing.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Nine airbags are standard, including front and side impact airbags, a driver's knee airbag, and front and rear side curtain airbags. The safety writeup also flags the lack of a standard backup camera and notes that the car’s upright rear and large C-pillars can create a blind spot for low objects behind it.
Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Prius c or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 55.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 7.35% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The expert review highlights the Prius c as a smaller, more city-friendly, more affordable way into the Prius family, with especially strong technology and a practical hybrid setup.
The bottom line: The 2014 Prius c makes the most sense if you want a compact, city-oriented hybrid and you value efficiency, tech, and affordability over space or luxury. If you are more price-sensitive, focus on the lower end of the range and prioritize clean history and condition, since that is where the best used-buy value is likely to be.
