What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Camry?

At 47.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a price that looks unusually low. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim you’re expecting. If you’re shopping for a family sedan, the details matter because the Camry’s value comes from getting a clean, well-kept example.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Camry L is the most basic version, while the LE adds a fancier grille, automatic headlights, and remote keyless entry. The XLE adds fog lights, extra chrome trim, 17-inch aluminum wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated outside mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, and more comfort-oriented equipment. The SE is the sportier choice, with a sport suspension, paddle shifters, unique wheels, a body kit, a rear spoiler, and a more aggressive appearance, but it rides more firmly than the other trims.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 178-horsepower, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with an EPA estimate of 28 mpg in combined driving. A 3.5-liter V6 is also available and delivers much stronger acceleration, but fuel economy drops to 25 mpg in combined driving.
• Safety package: Toyota offers Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid. Safety Connect is limited to the XLE and Hybrid XLE, and it includes Roadside Assistance, SOS Emergency Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and a Stolen-Vehicle Locator.
• Infotainment: The Camry uses the Entune touchscreen infotainment family. The system is easy to pair with a smartphone and simple to use, and higher trims can add an upgraded Entune Audio Plus system, Entune premium audio, Entune App Suite, and navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4-cylinder returns 28 mpg combined, while the V6 returns 25 mpg combined. The Camry Hybrid is rated at about 40 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2014 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?

The 2014 Toyota Camry is offered in 6 trim levels: L, LE, XLE, SE, Hybrid LE, Hybrid XLE.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the simplest Camry, and it makes sense only if you want the lowest-frills entry point and don’t mind the bare-bones setup.
• LE: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds useful everyday equipment without pushing the price into luxury-trim territory.
• XLE: Choose this if you want the most comfort-focused gas model, with more upscale features and a richer cabin feel.
• SE: Pick this if you want the sportier look and firmer tuning, but be aware that the ride is noticeably stiffer than other trims.

Safety Connect is limited to the XLE and Hybrid XLE, while Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid.

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,526 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 47.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,344, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Toyota Camry's resale value?

The current average of $11,826 sits slightly above last year's $11,715.

That small increase suggests the Camry has held its value fairly well rather than swinging sharply up or down. For a future seller, that kind of stability is helpful because it points to steady buyer interest and a market that is not overly volatile. The Camry’s reputation for value and dependability should continue to support demand when you decide to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Toyota Camry safe?

The 2014 Toyota Camry earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota’s Safety Connect telematics system is available only on the XLE and Hybrid XLE, and it includes Roadside Assistance, SOS Emergency Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and a Stolen-Vehicle Locator. Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid. One important caveat is that the pre-2014.5 Camry examples built before January 2014 were rated Poor in the IIHS small overlap frontal-impact test.

Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 47.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2014.5 update built after December 2013 adds a Top Safety Pick-rated version with stronger safety credentials.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,056, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $11,826 average.
• It adds a more appealing design, an upgraded interior, and expanded infotainment and safety technologies.

The bottom line: If you want the lower-priced, steadier-value choice, the 2014 makes sense. If you’re willing to pay more for a fresher-feeling cabin and more modern features, the 2015 is the better upgrade path.

How does the 2014 Toyota Camry compare to the 2014 Honda Accord?

Our experts score the 2014 Toyota Camry 7.5/10 and the 2014 Honda Accord 9.2/10.

The Accord is the stronger overall pick if you want the better-rated car with more power and slightly better fuel economy. The Camry counters with a lower average used price, more listings, and a slightly higher share of good and great deals. If your priority is value and a broad used-market selection, the Camry is still compelling; if you want the more polished all-around sedan, the Accord has the edge.
