Is the 2014 RAM 3500 a good car?

Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, durability, and towing capability, while also highlighting the Cummins engine’s reliability. The overview also shows why it appeals to you if you want serious heavy-duty capability without giving up comfort, since this model year offers upscale interiors, available technology, and multiple cab and drivetrain configurations. Is the 2014 RAM 3500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback emphasizes reliability, especially around the Cummins engine, along with durability and confidence for towing and hard use. That kind of praise matters if you plan to keep the truck for the long haul and want something you can count on for demanding work.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure prior use and maintenance history match the truck’s heavy-duty reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 RAM 3500?

At 65.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean trucks from those with prior damage or repairs. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for towing, hauling, or other demanding work. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and signs of wear that could matter more on a heavy-duty truck than on a typical daily driver.

What is the 2014 RAM 3500's resale value?

The current average of $30,363 sits slightly below last year's $31,923.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of preserving value later because you are starting from a more reasonable entry point. Trucks with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck with strong owner approval, solid market availability, and a price that has eased from last year, the 2014 is a sensible primary choice. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a slightly newer or older truck offers a better mix of condition, mileage, and asking price.
