Is the 2014 RAM 3500 a good car?

Yes — the 2014 RAM 3500 earns a 4.7/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Is the 2014 RAM 3500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Reviewers repeatedly describe it as durable and reliable, and they specifically call out the Cummins engine as dependable. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used heavy-duty truck you can count on for demanding work and long-term ownership.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the truck’s reputation and more about how hard a previous owner may have worked it.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 RAM 3500?

At 61.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean trucks from those with accident records. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the frame, suspension, towing-related wear, and overall condition, since heavy-duty trucks are often used hard. Focus on maintenance history and signs of abuse, especially if you plan to use the truck for towing or hauling.

What is the 2014 RAM 3500's resale value?

The current average of $29,680 sits slightly below last year's $31,301.

That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy more carefully now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the truck in good condition, you can improve your odds of holding value better over time. Demand should remain supported by the truck’s strong owner satisfaction and reputation for capability.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2014 is a strong choice if you want a heavy-duty truck with a good mix of capability, comfort, and current market value. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained truck rather than the newest one you can afford.
