CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Porsche 911

Summary
With 118 currently listed for sale near Los Angeles, CA and an average price of $131,113, 22.9% of 2014 Porsche 911s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Porsche 911 4.42 / 5 stars.
86.4% of 2014 Porsche 911 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2014 Porsche 911 stands out because it sits within the seventh-generation 991 family, a version that debuted in the 2012 model year and is often recognized by its thin bar between the taillights. That generation also marked a shift from hydraulic to electric power steering, which reduced some of the steering feedback that racers and drivers use to judge front tire traction. Even so, the 911 remained a compelling sports car because Porsche paired its familiar rear-engine layout with a broad range of performance-focused variants and a reputation for strong value retention.
For 2014, the lineup expanded to include the 911 Turbo, Turbo S, GT3, a new Targa, and a 50th Anniversary edition. The Turbo used a 3.8-liter engine rated at 520 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque, while the Turbo S increased output to 560 horsepower and 516 pound-feet. The GT3 brought a naturally aspirated engine rated at 475 horsepower and 325 pound-feet, with no rear seats, rear-wheel drive, and a PDK or manual transmission. The Targa kept its sliding glass roof concept, and the 50th Anniversary edition added another special-interest option to an already varied range.
That breadth is part of what makes the 2014 Porsche 911 appealing: it could be a comfortable grand tourer, a serious track car, or something in between. It also carried the 911’s usual strengths of iconic styling, a unique engine layout, and strong resale value. The tradeoffs were familiar too, including limited passenger and cargo space, high prices, and the kind of maintenance costs that come with a high-end sports car.

The car is a significant upgrade from my 997.1. The car is quick, and I love the sound from the engine. First PDK, but love it. The best balance of performance and convenience. The styling is phenomenal. Great value for the overall car. Love it!!

Purchased a 2014 911 Carrera coupe from a private seller off of Cargurus. It’s an amazing piece of machinery and purchase price was extremely reasonable for what was originally a 100k car. Love the manual transmission although I don’t really ever use 7th gear so in my opinion the extra gear isn’t really necessary. Overall it’s the best driving, sounding and looking car I have ever owned!

This car is spectacular. I currently own a similar 2012 model and the 2014 includes several small but noticeable improvements. Cant go wrong with it.

How much does the 2014 Porsche 911 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $113,711 |
| Year-Round Low | $99,876 |
| Year-Round High | $116,904 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $99,829 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +13.91% |
Prices are up 13.91% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 350 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2014 Porsche 911 a good car?
Generally — the 4.42/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the car’s outstanding power and performance, along with its impressive driving dynamics and engine sound. The 2014 911 also fits a wide range of use cases, from a comfortable grand tourer to a serious track-focused sports car, depending on the version you choose. With 27.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Porsche 911 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.42/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also highlights reliability and a dependable feel, with praise for the car as a true supercar that owners can count on. At the same time, some buyers mention transmission concerns and the need for spare parts, so long-term ownership risk is best managed by checking service history carefully and prioritizing well-maintained examples.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Porsche 911?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 80% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still review the history report closely and confirm that the car’s past matches the listing details. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on overall condition, especially signs of wear, cleanliness, and any transmission-related issues mentioned by owners. Because this is a high-end sports car, you’ll want to pay attention to maintenance records and how thoroughly the car has been cared for.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Porsche 911?
This is a seller’s market, so you should act selectively and be ready to move when a strong listing appears.
- Deal availability: 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 350 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 13.91% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 80.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $99,876, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Porsche 911's resale value?
The current average of $113,711 sits slightly above last year's $99,829.
That upward move suggests the market has continued to reward this model year, which can help support resale strength if you buy carefully. If you choose a well-kept example, you may benefit from the same demand that is pushing prices higher now. Strong condition and clean history matter even more in a market where buyers are already paying up for desirable examples.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.42/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2014 Porsche 911 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 80% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices are up 13.91% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.42/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2014 is a strong choice if you want this generation’s broad performance range and you’re comfortable shopping in a market where prices have risen. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, especially if you can find a cleaner or better-priced example with similar equipment and history.
