Used 2014 Nissan Sentra for Sale nearSaint Louis, MO

How much does the 2014 Nissan Sentra cost?

Prices have softened 7.09% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 611 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Nissan Sentra a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Nissan Sentra earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 6.0/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Technology.

The Sentra’s appeal is practical: it is described as roomy and comfortable, with everyday usefulness that makes sense if you want a compact car that feels larger inside than its footprint suggests. Its main drawback is that it does not stand out much in a crowded segment, so you are buying space, comfort, and efficiency more than personality or driving excitement.

27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Nissan Sentra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sentra is presented as a practical, relatively fuel-efficient compact car with a straightforward ownership proposition. Its expert evaluation also points to average-at-best quality and reliability expectations, so you should think of it as a sensible commuter rather than a standout durability pick.

The powertrain is tuned more for efficiency than excitement, and the CVT is described as sophisticated and quiet in normal driving. That said, the car’s long-term ownership risk is best managed by checking maintenance history carefully and making sure the drivetrain and brakes feel consistent on a test drive.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Nissan Sentra?

At 52.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or shows uneven panel gaps, tire wear, or brake issues. Focus on overall condition rather than just mileage, because the Sentra’s value proposition depends heavily on whether it has been maintained well and still feels solid in everyday use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sentra is offered in basic S, popular SV, sporty SR and upscale SL trims. The base S is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more convenience and equipment, and the SL is the most upscale choice.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine with 130 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque. The S trim can be had with a 6-speed manual, while other versions use a CVT that is tuned to maximize fuel economy.
• Safety package: The Sentra includes a driver-assistance and safety package centered on Nissan’s Easy Fill Tire Alert system, which is standard on SL and optional on SR. The safety content also notes that rear disc brakes are tied to higher-package equipment rather than being universal.
• Infotainment: The screen measures 5.8 inches, and Bluetooth plus a USB port require either the SL trim or an option package. A Navigation Package adds voice recognition, NissanConnect technology and a reversing camera, while the Premium Package adds an 8-speaker Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 30 mpg city, 39 mpg highway and 34 mpg combined. The FE+ package raises highway mileage to 40 mpg.

Which 2014 Nissan Sentra trim should I buy?

The 2014 Nissan Sentra is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SR and SL.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the simplest way into the Sentra, but it is also the most stripped-down. You should choose it only if price matters most and you are comfortable giving up the convenience and tech upgrades found higher up the range.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more balanced mix of everyday equipment without pushing you all the way to the top of the lineup. It makes the Sentra feel more complete while still staying relatively affordable.
• SR: This trim adds a sportier look and can be paired with useful upgrades, but the content does not suggest it transforms the car’s driving character. It makes sense if you want a more expressive appearance and some added equipment.
• SL: This is the most upscale choice and the one to target if you want the most comfort and convenience features. It is also the trim that gets the most equipment tied to tech and safety convenience, so it is the best fit if you want the most complete Sentra experience.

The safety-package note to keep in mind is that Easy Fill Tire Alert is standard on SL and optional on SR.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Nissan Sentra?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop carefully and still find reasonable value.

• Deal availability: 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 611 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.09% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 52.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $6,709, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Nissan Sentra's resale value?

The current average of $6,712 sits slightly below last year's $7,224.

That decline suggests the Sentra has softened in the used market, which can be good news if you are buying now but less favorable if you are thinking about future trade-in value. A lower entry price can help offset depreciation risk, especially if you plan to keep the car for several years.

The Sentra’s practical strengths may help it remain appealing to budget-minded shoppers, but its resale outlook depends heavily on condition, mileage and equipment. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Nissan Sentra safe?

The 2014 Nissan Sentra earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Good rating from IIHS in most tests, but it receives a Poor result in the small overlap frontal-impact test.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sentra’s safety equipment includes Nissan’s Easy Fill Tire Alert system on higher trims, and the safety writeup also notes that rear disc brakes are not universal. The main caveat is the weak small-overlap IIHS result, which is the kind of shortcoming you should take seriously if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2014 Nissan Sentra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from the Sentra’s expert review: it is roomy and relatively fuel-efficient, but it does not distinguish itself much in a crowded segment.

The bottom line: Buy the 2014 Sentra if you want a roomy, comfortable, fuel-conscious compact car at a relatively low used price and you are willing to accept modest performance and a plain personality. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2014 still makes sense as a value play, but you should shop carefully for condition and equipment because the best examples will matter more than the badge alone.

How does the 2014 Nissan Sentra compare to the 2014 Honda Civic?

Our experts score the 2014 Nissan Sentra 6/10 and the 2014 Honda Civic 8.2/10.

The Sentra is the cheaper buy by a wide margin, and it offers more listings to choose from, but the Civic brings stronger overall expert approval and more horsepower. The Sentra’s strengths are space, comfort and fuel economy, while the Civic is the more rounded choice if you want a more engaging and better-regarded compact car. If your priority is value and lower purchase price, the Sentra has the edge; if you want the stronger all-around package, the Civic is the better pick.
