Used 2014 Nissan Frontier for Sale nearSpringfield, MO

How much does the 2014 Nissan Frontier cost?

Prices have softened 1.13% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 416 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Nissan Frontier earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating, so you’re looking at a truck that lands in the solid-but-not-class-leading range. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

User feedback repeatedly points to reliability, good fuel economy, and decent interior design, and many owners compare it favorably with rivals like the Tacoma. That lines up with the Frontier’s straightforward, work-ready personality in the overview, especially if you want a small truck for weekend use, surfing trips, or off-roading excursions rather than a do-everything pickup.

The market also shows 29.8% good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive listings if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights reliability, good fuel economy, and a generally dependable feel, with some owners describing it as a truck they can count on. The expert evaluation also points to favorable quality and reliability ratings, which supports the idea that this model year can be a sensible long-term choice if you find one that’s been cared for.

The ownership risk for used buyers is less about the truck’s basic durability and more about how well a specific example was maintained, since condition and prior damage can have a big effect on value and confidence.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Nissan Frontier?

At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a hands-on inspection, especially if the truck has been used for hauling, towing, or off-road driving. Focus on condition first: signs of neglect, prior damage, and wear can matter more than mileage alone on a truck like this.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S is the basic truck, while the SV adds more everyday convenience, and the PRO-4X brings the most off-road-focused hardware. The SL adds comfort-oriented equipment but drops the off-road gear, so you should decide whether you want utility, comfort, or trail capability before you shop.
• Powertrain: You can find 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder setups, along with rear-wheel or 4-wheel drive configurations. The V6 brings much stronger performance, while the 4-cylinder is the more basic choice and is tied to lower towing capability.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes antilock brakes, stability control, rear parking sensors, and a back-up camera. The truck is described as lacking the advanced safety technology found in newer full-size trucks.
• Infotainment: The available NissanConnect system includes Bluetooth smartphone pairing, streaming audio, a text-messaging assistant, live traffic, gas prices, apps, navigation, voice commands, a USB port, an auxiliary input jack, satellite radio, and Internet radio. The touchscreen is noted as small and prone to sun glare.
• Fuel efficiency: The truck is described as getting terrible gas mileage, with an EPA-rated combined figure of 17 mpg for the test vehicle and an observed average of 14.6 mpg.

Which 2014 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2014 Nissan Frontier is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SV, Desert Runner, PRO-4X, and SL.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the most basic choice, with a 4-cylinder engine, a manual transmission, and 15-inch steel wheels. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost entry point and don’t need much equipment.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds 16-inch alloy wheels, power accessories, a tilt steering wheel, a 4.3-inch color radio display, satellite radio, a USB port, and an auxiliary audio input jack. If you want a more usable daily driver without jumping into the pricier off-road trims, this is the one to target.
• Desert Runner: This trim is rear-wheel drive but styled to look like a 4WD truck, and it adds fog lights, Bilstein shock absorbers, and off-road tires. It suits you if you want the look and some trail flavor without going all the way to the most capable model.
• PRO-4X: This is the off-road-focused trim, with off-road tires, Bilstein shocks, a locking rear differential, underbody skid plates, and automatic headlights. It’s the right pick if trail use matters most, and the Luxury package adds more comfort and tech.
• SL: This trim includes most of the Luxury package content but drops the off-road equipment, while adding 18-inch alloy wheels and side steps. It fits you if you want a more comfort-oriented Frontier rather than a trail-ready one.

The safety content notes that the Frontier is fairly standard on safety tech and lacks the advanced systems found in newer trucks.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Nissan Frontier?

The market looks moderately favorable if you’re selective, especially if you’re willing to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 416 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.13% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,038, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $13,503 sits slightly below last year's $13,657.

That modest decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can work against you if you’re planning to sell soon. On the other hand, the drop is not dramatic, so a well-kept truck should still have a reasonable audience if it presents cleanly and has a strong history.

Because the Frontier’s value story is tied closely to condition, a truck with fewer signs of wear, better maintenance, and no accident history should be easier to move than one with visible neglect. If you buy carefully now, you’re more likely to preserve value later.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Nissan Frontier safe?

The 2014 Nissan Frontier earns Good ratings from IIHS for moderate overlap frontal impact, side impact, and roof crush protection, and an Acceptable rating for rear-impact seat and head restraint protection. It also earns a four-star rollover rating from NHTSA for the 4WD model, while RWD models get a three-star rollover rating.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety equipment is fairly basic and includes antilock brakes, stability control, rear parking sensors, and a back-up camera. The truck is also described as lacking the advanced driver-assistance technology you’ll find in newer full-size pickups, so you should not expect a modern safety suite here.

Should I buy a 2014 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The expert summary says the Frontier works well for weekend surfers or off-roading excursions, but it comes up short if you need to haul lots of stuff often.

The bottom line: If you want a simple, rugged small truck and you find a clean example at the right price, the 2014 Frontier can make sense. If you’re shopping mainly on value and want the best chance of finding a well-priced listing, this year is worth a look; if you need more utility or a more modern-feeling truck, you may want to keep comparing other years and alternatives.
