Used 2014 Nissan Frontier for Sale nearAlbuquerque, NM

How much does the 2014 Nissan Frontier cost?

Prices have softened 3.46% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 432 listings available, which gives you a modest pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2014 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Nissan Frontier earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Drivers commonly praise its reliability, good fuel economy, and decent interior design. That lines up with the Frontier’s straightforward, work-ready personality and its appeal as a small truck for weekend use, especially if you want something capable rather than especially refined. Even so, the market signal is mixed, with only 31.9% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2014 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to reliability and a trouble-free ownership experience as recurring positives, and drivers also describe it as dependable. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression with favorable quality and reliability language, even while noting the truck’s broader value compromises. If you buy used, the main long-term risk is ending up with a truck that has been worked hard, neglected, or priced too high for its condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Nissan Frontier?

At 63.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, bed condition, and signs of prior damage or neglect. Because this truck is often bought for utility, condition matters as much as mileage, and a clean-looking listing can still hide hard use. If you’re comparing multiple trucks, focus on maintenance records, evidence of rust or repair work, and whether the truck’s equipment matches the asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Frontier comes in 5 trim levels: S, SV, Desert Runner, PRO-4X and SL. The S is the most basic version, while the SV adds more everyday convenience features. The Desert Runner uses special styling and off-road-oriented hardware, the PRO-4X is the most serious off-road model, and the SL adds more comfort and convenience without the off-road equipment.
• Powertrain: You can equip a Frontier with a 4- or 6-cylinder engine and rear-wheel or 4-wheel drive in various configurations. The V6 brings stronger performance, while the 4-cylinder is the simpler setup.
• Safety package: The Frontier includes antilock brakes, stability control, rear parking sensors and a back-up camera. The PRO-4X adds off-road hardware such as a locking rear differential and underbody skid plates.
• Infotainment: The optional NissanConnect system includes Bluetooth smartphone pairing with streaming audio, a text-messaging assistant, live traffic updates, gas prices, mobile apps, navigation, USB and auxiliary inputs, satellite or Internet radio, and voice-command access.
• Fuel efficiency: The Frontier’s EPA-rated combined figure is 17 mpg, and the test vehicle averaged 14.6 mpg.

Which 2014 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2014 Nissan Frontier is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SV, Desert Runner, PRO-4X and SL.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the most basic Frontier, with a 4-cylinder engine, a manual transmission and 15-inch steel wheels. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost entry point and can live without much equipment.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds 16-inch alloy wheels, power accessories, a tilt steering wheel, a 4.3-inch color radio display, satellite radio, a USB port and an auxiliary input. The available Value Truck package also adds useful comfort and convenience features.
• Desert Runner: This trim is for buyers who want the rugged look of a 4WD truck in a rear-wheel-drive package, along with fog lights, Bilstein shock absorbers and off-road tires.
• PRO-4X: This is the choice for serious off-road use. It adds off-road tires, Bilstein shocks, a locking rear differential, underbody skid plates and automatic headlights, with the Luxury package bringing more comfort and tech.
• SL: This trim keeps much of the PRO-4X Luxury package’s comfort and convenience content but drops the off-road gear, while adding 18-inch alloy wheels and side steps.

The safety content notes that the Frontier is equipped with standard safety technology rather than a modern advanced driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Nissan Frontier?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 432 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.46% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,044, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $13,283 sits slightly below last year's $13,758.

That decline suggests the Frontier has softened in the market, which can work against you if you’re planning to sell soon. On the other hand, the lower entry price may help keep it accessible to used-truck shoppers who want a simpler, rugged pickup. If you maintain yours well and keep mileage and condition in check, you’ll be in a better position to hold value than a neglected example.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Nissan Frontier safe?

The Frontier earns Good ratings from IIHS for moderate overlap frontal impact, side impact and roof crush protection, and an Acceptable rating for rear-impact seat and head restraint protection. It also earns a four-star rollover rating from NHTSA on 4WD models, while RWD models get a three-star rollover rating.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The Frontier’s safety equipment includes antilock brakes, stability control, rear parking sensors and a back-up camera. That said, it lacks the advanced driver-assistance technology found in newer trucks, so you should not expect modern active-safety coverage. The rollover rating difference between 4WD and RWD models is worth keeping in mind if you’re comparing used listings.

Should I buy a 2014 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The Frontier’s appeal this year is its rugged, work-ready character and weekend-friendly utility, especially for buyers who want a small truck rather than a full-size pickup.

The bottom line: The 2014 Frontier makes the most sense if you want a simple, capable used truck and you’re willing to accept its compromises in fuel economy and cargo utility. If you’re price-sensitive, this year’s softer pricing and decent deal availability make it worth a close look, but you should be selective about condition and accident history before you buy.
