Is the 2014 Lincoln MKZ a good car?

In use-case terms, that makes it a strong fit if you want a premium sedan that can feel calm in daily driving but still has a more energetic side when properly equipped.

28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Lincoln MKZ reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to reliability, comfort, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with no notable complaints mentioned in the reviews. The expert review also says J.D. Power expects it to prove more reliable than the average luxury car, which supports the idea that this is a car you can count on if it has been maintained well.

The main used-car risk is that ownership costs can still be higher than you might expect for the segment, so you should pay close attention to service history and condition before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Lincoln MKZ?

At 57.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has any signs of prior bodywork or uneven wear. Focus on how the car drives, whether the electronics respond cleanly, and whether the interior features work as expected, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on its equipment and overall condition.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Standard equipment includes leather, dual-zone climate controls, 10-way power heated front seats, an 8-inch touchscreen display, 18-inch wheels, and an adaptive suspension. The Select Package adds a rear-view camera, parking sensors, and interior lighting, while the Reserve Package adds navigation, a power-operated trunk, ventilated front seats, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert. The Preferred Equipment Package adds a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and a 14-speaker Surround Sound audio system, and the Technology Package adds adaptive cruise control, collision-warning-and-mitigation, lane-departure warning, and automated parallel parking. The Reserve and Technology-equipped setup is the most complete, while the Select Package is the first step up for shoppers who want more everyday convenience.
• Powertrain: The MKZ is available with a turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder, a 300-hp 3.7-liter V6, or a gas-electric hybrid powertrain that should average 38 mpg. All-wheel drive is available with the turbo and V6 powertrains, and the turbo engine is described as having plentiful power with little turbo lag.
• Safety package: The Reserve Package is the minimum step for blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and forward-collision warning with active braking. Rear parking-assist sensors come with the Select Package, and the reversing camera also requires that package. Rear seatbelts with inflatable cushioning airbags are available only with the Select Package or higher.
• Infotainment: The MKZ uses an 8-inch touchscreen display, and the interface is touch-sensitive rather than knob-based. The system can be slow to respond at times, but it is easy to use once you get used to it. Active Park Assist is also available and can automatically steer the car into a parallel space.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid powertrain should average 38 mpg. The turbocharged AWD test car was rated at about 22 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined, and the review notes that the EcoBoost engine needs premium gas to make maximum power.

Which 2014 Lincoln MKZ trim should I buy?

The 2014 Lincoln MKZ is offered in 2 trim levels: MKZ, MKZ Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• MKZ: This is the main choice if you want the standard gas model with the broadest range of available equipment. It starts with leather, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen, 18-inch wheels, and an adaptive suspension, and it can be optioned up with the Select, Reserve, Preferred Equipment, and Technology packages. If you want the best-value path, this is the trim to focus on because it gives you access to the full spread of upgrades.
• MKZ Hybrid: Choose this if fuel economy matters most and you want the gas-electric setup that should average 38 mpg. It is the efficiency-focused alternative in the lineup.

For safety, the reversing camera requires the Select Package, while blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and forward-collision warning with active braking require the Reserve Package at minimum.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Lincoln MKZ?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 190 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.83% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,550, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Lincoln MKZ's resale value?

The current average of $8,803 sits slightly below last year's $9,348.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can be helpful if you are buying now but less favorable if you plan to sell soon. If you own one, the softer pricing trend means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment. Well-kept examples with desirable features should still attract attention, but the broader market is not signaling strong appreciation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Lincoln MKZ safe?

The 2014 Lincoln MKZ earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, though it also earns three-star ratings for driver-side impact protection.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The MKZ’s safety equipment is strong, but much of it is tied to higher trim packages. A reversing camera requires the Select Package, while blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and forward-collision warning with active braking require the Reserve Package at minimum. Rear seatbelts with inflatable cushioning airbags are also available only with the Select Package or higher.

The main caveat is that the driver-side impact result is weaker than the rest of the crash-test picture, so you should pay close attention to the car’s condition and equipment level when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2014 Lincoln MKZ or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines a sporty driving character with upscale comfort, spacious interior and trunk space, and a smooth ride.

The bottom line: The 2014 MKZ makes the most sense if you want a premium sedan with strong owner satisfaction, a lower current price, and enough inventory to shop selectively. If you are especially price-sensitive, the softened market and decent deal share make this a good year to target; if you want the cleanest example possible, focus on condition and history first, then choose the best-equipped car you can find.
