How much does the 2014 Kia Soul cost?

There are 819 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 Kia Soul a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Kia Soul earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10. Owners consistently praise the smooth driving experience, fuel efficiency, spacious interior, and sound system, and the overview frames it as a useful daily-driver hatch with personality that especially appeals if you want something entertaining for the commute. With 30.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a strong-value example.

Is the 2014 Kia Soul reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner summary points to a smooth driving experience, fuel efficiency, and a spacious interior, while also noting that many cars still run well even when minor cosmetic issues show up. The expert notes also describe it as a solid value with features that help it feel well equipped for the money. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the car’s basic appeal and more about finding one that has been cared for and not worn down by neglect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Kia Soul?

At 59.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of past repairs. Because owner feedback mentions minor cosmetic issues such as dents, it makes sense to focus on condition as much as mileage and equipment. If you want the best ownership experience, look for a car that still feels tight, clean, and well maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim includes a multifunction steering wheel, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, SiriusXM satellite radio, and USB/auxiliary audio inputs, while Plus adds mirror-mounted LED turn signals, remote keyless entry, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Exclaim adds 18-inch alloys, a backup camera, UVO connectivity services, and a chilled glovebox, so the base trim is the most stripped-down choice.
• Powertrain: The base trim uses a 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder with 130 hp, while Plus and Exclaim use a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder with 164 hp. The smaller engine returns 24 mpg city and 30 highway, while the larger engine returns 23 mpg city and 31 highway.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, electronic brakeforce distribution, a tire pressure monitoring system, side impact door beams, and front and rear crumple zones. A backup camera is limited to uprated models.
• Infotainment: All trims come with USB/auxiliary jacks, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, and a 6-speaker audio system with A-pillar-mounted tweeters. The available system centers on an 8-inch touchscreen and adds voice-command navigation, with an optional upgraded audio setup available.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 1.6-liter engine returns 24 mpg city and 30 highway, while the 2.0-liter engine returns 23 mpg city and 31 highway.

Which 2014 Kia Soul trim should I buy?

The 2014 Kia Soul is offered in 3 trim levels: base, Plus (+), Exclaim (!).

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and still want standard Bluetooth, satellite radio, and USB/auxiliary inputs. It makes the most sense if you care more about the Soul’s personality and tech basics than extra convenience features.
• Plus (+): This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds remote keyless entry, 17-inch alloy wheels, and mirror-mounted LED turn signals without jumping all the way to the top model. It gives you a nicer everyday experience while staying more affordable than Exclaim.
• Exclaim (!): This is the trim to choose if you want the most features, including 18-inch alloys, a backup camera, UVO connectivity services, and a chilled glovebox. It suits you best if you want the most complete version of the Soul.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, while the backup camera is reserved for uprated models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Kia Soul?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 819 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.93% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $6,817, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $6,841 sits slightly below last year's $7,048.

That kind of price movement suggests the Soul has softened a bit in the used market, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than on market momentum alone. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than rougher ones, especially when buyers can compare many listings.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Kia Soul safe?

The 2014 Kia Soul earns an 7/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes standard with a full complement of front- and side-impact airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, electronic brakeforce distribution, a tire pressure monitoring system, side impact door beams, and front and rear crumple zones. A backup camera is available on uprated models, and the upright design helps visibility with better sight lines than many curvier competitors. The main caveat is that the backup camera is not standard across the lineup.

Should I buy a 2014 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.93% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 stands out for its strong technology, especially the 10/10 tech score and intuitive 8-inch touchscreen setup.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $7,845, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $6,841 average.
• It adds more power, extra trunk space, and a few additional safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the better bargain, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because it already delivers strong tech, solid owner satisfaction, and a softer used price. If you can stretch for a newer example and want the added upgrades, the 2015 is the better choice for buyers who value those improvements more than the lower entry cost.

How does the 2014 Kia Soul compare to the 2014 Ford Fiesta?

Our experts score the 2014 Kia Soul 8/10 and the 2014 Ford Fiesta 7.7/10. The Soul gives you more space, stronger tech, and a more distinctive personality, while the Fiesta leans toward better fuel economy and a lower average used price. If you want the more practical and better-equipped choice, the Soul has the edge; if you want to spend less and prioritize efficiency, the Fiesta is the leaner pick.
