How much does the 2014 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 9.11% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 578 listings available, which suggests a modest but workable amount of inventory for shoppers.

Is the 2014 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 4.55/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7.33/10. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners commonly praise its reliability, smooth ride, spacious interior, and good safety features. That lines up with the Sorento’s role as a well-rounded family vehicle, especially if you want a crossover that balances style, substance, and everyday usefulness. The market also shows 28.0% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.55/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, and it also describes the Sorento as a solid family vehicle with good value. The expert evaluation adds that the Sorento’s warranty coverage is a major strength, including a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, which supports confidence in long-term ownership. Kia also highlights the model’s average predicted reliability rankings in comparison testing.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure prior maintenance and wear items have been handled, especially on higher-mileage examples.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Kia Sorento?

At 60.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, safety equipment, and interior condition. Because some owners mention third-row legroom concerns and occasional control malfunctions, it’s smart to test every feature yourself during a drive. Focus on how the vehicle feels in daily use, not just on the spec sheet.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX leaves out some equipment found higher up the range, while the EX V6 adds dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, heated front seats, push-button ignition, and Kia’s UVO infotainment system. The SX adds a panoramic sunroof, navigation, a 10-speaker Infinity audio upgrade, blind-spot monitoring, a power liftgate, and heated or cooled front seats. The Limited adds HID headlights, a heated steering wheel, premium leather seats, and heated second-row seats.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 2.4-liter GDI four-cylinder with 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic. A 3.3-liter GDI V6 is available with 290 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque, and it brings stronger passing power and towing capability.
• Safety package: All Sorentos include 6 airbags, front active headrests, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, and electronic stability control. A rear-view camera is standard in all but LX trims, and blind-spot monitoring appears on higher trims.
• Infotainment: The Sorento offers UVO eServices with an 8-inch touchscreen, voice controls, smartphone-linked navigation, and destination upload capability from a Bluetooth-enabled iPhone or Android device.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-drive LX is rated at 20 mpg city/26 highway/22 combined, while the front-drive V6 returns 18/25/21 mpg. In testing, the AWD V6 returned 24.2 mpg on a long highway run.

Which 2014 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2014 Kia Sorento is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, LX V6, EX V6, SX, and SX-L, or Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Sorento experience with the standard four-cylinder engine, Bluetooth, satellite radio, heated mirrors, and alloy wheels. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the extra comfort and tech features found higher up.
• LX V6: This trim adds the stronger V6 powertrain while staying closer to the lower end of the lineup. It’s the right pick if you want more muscle without jumping all the way to the better-equipped trims.
• EX V6: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds a strong mix of comfort and convenience features, including leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, UVO, and push-button ignition.
• SX: This trim is the step up for shoppers who want the most noticeable equipment upgrades, including navigation, a panoramic sunroof, blind-spot monitoring, a power liftgate, and heated or cooled front seats.
• SX-L, or Limited: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with premium leather, HID headlights, a heated steering wheel, and heated second-row seats for buyers who want the most upscale Sorento experience.

A rear-view camera is standard in all but LX trims, so that’s an important safety-package difference to keep in mind.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Kia Sorento?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare options and enough deal activity to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 578 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.11% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $7,860, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $7,864 sits slightly below last year's $8,652.

That decline suggests the Sorento has become more affordable for buyers, which can make it harder for sellers to command top dollar right now. If you’re planning to sell later, pricing competitively will matter more than relying on brand appeal alone. The good news is that a model with broad family appeal and strong owner satisfaction can still attract steady interest.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.55/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2014 Kia Sorento earns a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and an overall five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia equips all Sorentos with 6 airbags, front active headrests, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, and electronic stability control. A rear-view camera is standard in all but LX trims, so lower trims miss one useful safety feature. Blind-spot monitoring is available on higher trims, which adds another layer of driver assistance.

Should I buy a 2014 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.55/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 brings updated styling, a stronger standard four-cylinder, and an available blind-spot monitoring system.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $8,408, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $7,864 average.
• It adds a more polished overall presentation and a well-equipped feel.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and the model still delivers strong owner satisfaction. If you can spend more and want to compare against a newer option, the 2015 is worth a look, but the 2014 remains the more price-friendly path.
