Used 2014 Kia Forte for Sale nearNew York, NY

How much does the 2014 Kia Forte cost?

Prices have softened 6.46% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 244 listings available, which suggests a modest but workable pool of used examples to compare.

Is the 2014 Kia Forte a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Kia Forte earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Cost effectiveness.

Owners repeatedly praise its reliability, fuel efficiency, and comfort. The spacious trunk also comes up often, and the car is frequently recommended as a practical first car.

That lines up with the Forte’s everyday mission: it is aimed at buyers who want a polished compact with style, space, efficiency, and useful in-car tech. 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Kia Forte reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback consistently points to reliability, and owners also describe it as a practical car they can count on for daily use. The expert drive notes reinforce that it is a competent small car with a solid, well-rounded feel for everyday driving.

The cost-effectiveness notes also support ownership confidence, since the Forte was positioned as a solid deal even when fully optioned. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure a well-used example has been maintained carefully, especially if you want to avoid the lightweight feel some owners mention.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Kia Forte?

At 53.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because the Forte’s appeal is tied to its value, comfort, and tech, you will want to make sure the condition matches the asking price.

Pay extra attention to road noise, interior wear, and any signs that the car has been driven hard or repaired poorly. A clean-looking listing is not enough on its own when more than half of the inventory has a reported accident history.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the simpler starting point, while the EX adds a more upscale interior presentation, leather seating, and a more polished feel. The base trim also misses the UVO infotainment system, so feature gaps are most noticeable there.
• Powertrain: The base LX uses a 1.8-liter inline 4-cylinder with 148 horsepower and either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. The EX upgrades to a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 173 horsepower and a 6-speed automatic, giving you noticeably stronger passing power without a major fuel-economy penalty.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes front impact and side curtain airbags, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, electronic stability control, traction control, braking assist, hill assist control, electronic brakeforce distribution, front and rear crumple zones, side-impact door beams and a tire pressure monitoring system. The safety content also notes that the IIHS rated the car Good in side impact, roof strength and moderate frontal offset tests, but Poor in small-overlap frontal offset testing.
• Infotainment: Bluetooth is standard, and UVO infotainment is standard on the EX but unavailable on the LX. The system uses a color touchscreen and voice-activated navigation, and it supports software updates over time.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.8-liter engine returns 25 mpg city/37 highway with the manual and 25/36 with the automatic. The 2.0-liter EX is rated at 24/36.

Which 2014 Kia Forte trim should I buy?

The 2014 Kia Forte is offered in 2 trim levels: LX and EX.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and are comfortable with the simpler setup. It gives you the core Forte experience, but you give up the more upscale cabin feel and the UVO infotainment system found higher up.
• EX: This is the best-value trim if you want the Forte to feel more complete. It adds the stronger 2.0-liter engine, a more refined interior, leather seating, and UVO, making it the trim that best matches the car’s polished personality.

The safety content highlights a broad standard safety suite across the lineup, with no trim-specific safety package noted in the source material.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Kia Forte?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 244 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.46% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $6,437, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Kia Forte's resale value?

The current average of $6,437 sits slightly below last year's $6,881.

That softer pricing suggests the Forte is in a buyer-friendly phase, which can help you if you are shopping now but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. Still, the model’s value-oriented reputation and broad appeal can help support demand when you eventually list it.

Because the Forte is positioned as a practical compact with strong owner satisfaction, it should remain attractive to budget-minded shoppers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Kia Forte safe?

The 2014 Kia Forte earns a Top Safety Pick from the IIHS and a poor rating in small-overlap frontal offset crash testing.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Forte comes with a broad standard safety package that includes front impact and side curtain airbags, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, electronic stability control, traction control, braking assist, hill assist control, electronic brakeforce distribution, front and rear crumple zones, side-impact door beams and a tire pressure monitoring system.

The main caveat is the poor small-overlap result, which is worth keeping in mind if crash protection is a top priority for you. That makes a careful inspection of the car’s condition and repair history especially important.

Should I buy a 2014 Kia Forte or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 brings a much more complete and competitive redesign with style, space, efficiency, and in-car tech.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $7,124, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $6,437 average.
• It adds more equipment potential, but its crash-test weakness is the key tradeoff.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because it combines lower pricing with strong owner satisfaction and a more polished design. If you are shopping strictly on price, the 2014 is the easier buy; if you are comparing across years, make sure the newer car’s extra cost is justified by the specific example you find.
