How much does the 2014 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 7.07% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,149 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 4.62/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7.00/10. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its ruggedness, off-road capability, power, and versatile driving experience. That lines up with the Wrangler’s clear use case: you’re buying it for adventure driving and serious capability, not for a relaxed commute or luxury-like comfort.

With 31.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.62/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a vehicle that feels dependable in the ways Wrangler buyers care about most: ruggedness, capability, and a driving experience you can count on for off-road use. The expert review adds that customer complaints have dwindled since Jeep’s reboot, which supports the case for improved long-term ownership confidence.

The ownership picture is still shaped by the Wrangler’s compromises, especially fuel use and daily-driving comfort, so used buyers should focus on maintenance history and how the vehicle was treated.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Jeep Wrangler?

At 62.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, underbody condition, and signs of hard use. Because this model is built for off-road duty, condition matters as much as mileage, and you’ll want to confirm that any modifications or trail wear were handled properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Wrangler is offered as a short-wheelbase 2-door or a long-wheelbase 4-door, and all versions include 4-wheel drive, a V6 engine, a convertible top, removable doors, and a folding windshield. The base setup is intentionally spartan, so you should expect fewer comfort and convenience features than in more road-focused SUVs.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.6-liter V6 with 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic. It is rated at 18 mpg in combined driving, and the review emphasizes that it is tuned for off-road capability rather than relaxed on-road refinement.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes dual front airbags, antilock brakes with brake assist, hill-start assist, all-speed traction control with a special 4-Lo setting, stability control with electronic roll mitigation, and trailer sway control. Front-seat side-impact airbags are optional, so you should verify whether a specific listing has them.
• Infotainment: Available tech includes a 6.5-inch color touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, and navigation. The cabin also offers automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a premium audio system, but the overall tech story is still fairly limited.
• Fuel efficiency: The Wrangler is rated at 18 mpg in combined driving, and a loaded example returned 17.1 mpg in weeklong testing.

Which 2014 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2014 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport 2-door, Rubicon X Unlimited, Rubicon, and Dragon Edition.

Here's the short version:

• Sport 2-door: This is the least expensive path into the Wrangler and the best-value choice if you want the core Wrangler experience without paying for extra hardware. It still gives you the standard 4-wheel-drive setup, V6 power, and the removable-top, doors-off character that defines the model.
• Rubicon: This is the trim to target if you want the strongest off-road hardware for the money. It adds the mechanical equipment that makes the Wrangler especially capable on difficult terrain, including locking differentials, a disconnecting sway bar, and a Rock-Trac transfer case.
• Dragon Edition: This is the style-and-equipment play, aimed at buyers who want a more distinctive, more heavily equipped Wrangler. It is based on the Sahara model and adds a softer, more road-oriented feel, but it is not the best choice if your priority is the most serious trail performance.
• Rubicon X Unlimited: This is the most specialized and most expensive version mentioned here, with added steel bumpers, larger rock rails, and winch-ready hardware. It makes the most sense if you want a heavily outfitted Wrangler and are willing to pay for it.

The safety content also notes that front-seat side-impact airbags are optional, so check each listing carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,149 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.07% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,463, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $15,463 sits slightly below last year's $16,639.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the Jeep has been maintained.

Wranglers tend to hold buyer interest because they have a clear identity and a loyal audience. If you keep yours clean, unmodified, and well documented, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2014 Jeep Wrangler earns a Good rating in the IIHS moderate overlap frontal-impact test, a Marginal rating in small overlap frontal-impact and rear-impact injury prevention, and a Poor rating in the side-impact test.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes dual front airbags, antilock brakes with brake assist, hill-start assist, all-speed traction control with a special 4-Lo setting, stability control with electronic roll mitigation, and trailer sway control. Front-seat side-impact airbags are optional.

The main caveat is the Wrangler’s crash-test performance, especially its side-impact result and the weaker small-overlap and rear-impact ratings. That makes it especially important to verify equipment and condition on any used example you consider.

Should I buy a 2014 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 combines strong off-road capability with a surprisingly affordable price.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $16,434, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $15,463 average.
• It adds an upgraded sound system and fresh editions.

The bottom line: If you want the lower-priced Wrangler with strong owner satisfaction and a broad used-car market, the 2014 is the better starting point. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model with a few added features, the 2015 is the cleaner upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2014 remains the smarter buy as long as you verify history and condition carefully.
