How much does the 2014 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 8.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,087 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its ruggedness, power, and fun, capable driving experience, especially when you want something that can handle off-road use. The Wrangler’s appeal is strongest if you value adventure, distinctive character, and a vehicle built around capability rather than comfort. That said, the overview makes clear that its uncompromised off-road focus brings real tradeoffs in daily driving, so it fits you best if you want a purpose-built SUV rather than a commuter-first one.

With 31.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find attractive pricing.

Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that feels rugged, capable, and dependable in the kinds of situations Wrangler buyers care about most. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that customer complaints have declined since Jeep’s reboot, which supports the idea that this model year is more settled than older versions. The ownership picture still includes fuel-cost and daily-use compromises, so your long-term risk is less about whether it can do the job and more about whether you’ll be comfortable living with its character over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Jeep Wrangler?

At 63.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of body condition, underbody wear, and signs of prior repair. Because this model is built for rough use, you’ll want to pay close attention to how well it has been maintained and whether its condition matches the seller’s description. Focus especially on signs of hard off-road use, since that can affect long-term ownership satisfaction.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Wrangler lineup includes two-door and four-door body styles, and the more capable versions add serious off-road hardware. Base versions are simpler, while Rubicon and Rubicon X models bring the most specialized equipment for buyers who want maximum trail ability.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.6-liter V6 with 285 horsepower and standard 4-wheel drive. The engine is described as well suited to the Wrangler’s mission, with an 18 mpg combined rating.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes dual front airbags, antilock brakes with brake assist, hill-start assist, traction control with a special 4-Lo setting, stability control with electronic roll mitigation, and trailer sway control. Front-seat side-impact airbags are optional.
• Infotainment: Available tech includes Uconnect with Bluetooth connectivity, a 6.5-inch color touchscreen, and navigation. The Wrangler keeps its tech simple rather than loading on extra complexity.
• Fuel efficiency: The Wrangler is rated at 18 mpg in combined driving, and a loaded Unlimited returned 17.1 mpg in weeklong testing.

Which 2014 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2014 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon X.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the value-focused starting point if you want the Wrangler experience at the lowest entry price. It gives you the core formula, and the review notes that even a lightly equipped version can be highly capable off road.
• Sahara: This trim suits you if you want a more polished, better-equipped Wrangler for everyday use without jumping all the way to the most specialized off-road models.
• Rubicon: This is the best-value trim for serious trail buyers because it adds the most important off-road hardware, including locking differentials, a disconnecting sway bar, and Rock-Trac gearing.
• Rubicon X: Choose this if you want the most heavily equipped Wrangler with added steel bumpers, larger rock rails, and winch-ready hardware.

The safety package includes standard airbags, stability control, hill-start assist, traction control, and trailer sway control, with front-seat side-impact airbags optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,087 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.01% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,158, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $15,158 sits slightly below last year's $16,478.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of that depreciation. The Wrangler’s strong enthusiast appeal still helps support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2014 Jeep Wrangler earns a Good rating in the IIHS moderate overlap frontal-impact test, a Marginal rating in small overlap frontal-impact and rear-impact injury prevention, and a Poor rating in the side-impact test.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes dual front airbags, antilock brakes with brake assist, hill-start assist, traction control with a special 4-Lo setting, stability control with electronic roll mitigation, and trailer sway control. Front-seat side-impact airbags are optional. The main caveat is the Wrangler’s weak crash-test performance, especially in side impact, so safety-conscious used buyers should weigh that carefully.

Should I buy a 2014 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 combines strong off-road capability with a surprisingly affordable used price.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $16,047, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $15,158 average.
• It adds an upgraded sound system and fresh editions.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter buy because it offers the Wrangler formula at a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly fresher setup and a few added touches, the 2015 is the better secondary path.

How does the 2014 Jeep Wrangler compare to the 2014 Toyota 4Runner?

Our experts score the 2014 Jeep Wrangler 7/10 and the 2014 Toyota 4Runner 8.2/10. The Wrangler is the more specialized off-road machine, while the 4Runner is the more balanced choice for buyers who want stronger overall refinement. You’ll also pay much less for the Wrangler on the used market, but the 4Runner brings a higher expert score and better highway fuel economy.
