How much does the 2014 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 7.25% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,135 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.62/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its ruggedness, off-road capability, and fun driving experience. The review summary also points to strong power and a versatile character, which fits the Wrangler’s clear focus on adventure rather than easygoing commuting.

That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a vehicle built for go-anywhere capability, with tradeoffs in comfort and daily-drive refinement. With 33.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still meaningful market value if you want that kind of purpose-built SUV.

Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.62/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The review summary also points to ruggedness and a vehicle that owners feel good about using for adventure, which supports the idea that many buyers count on it for the long haul.

The expert evaluation adds that customer complaints have dwindled since Jeep’s reboot in the early 2010s, which is a positive sign for dependability. It also notes that the Wrangler’s value proposition is strong for the price, and that ownership costs are weighed down more by fuel than by depreciation.

If you buy used, the biggest long-term ownership risk is that the Wrangler’s hard-use character can magnify wear, so condition matters more than mileage alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Jeep Wrangler?

At 62.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body condition, underbody wear, and signs of hard use. Because this model is often bought for off-road duty, you’ll want to focus on how it was treated rather than just how it looks in photos.

Pay close attention to whether the equipment level matches what you want for daily use versus trail use, and make sure the features you care about are actually present on the specific listing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Wrangler is offered with a short-wheelbase 2-door and a long-wheelbase 4-door, and all versions have 4-wheel drive, a V6 engine, a convertible top, removable doors, and a folding windshield. Base versions are stripped down, while higher-end versions add more equipment and off-road hardware.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.6-liter V6 with 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed manual is available, and an automatic is also offered on some versions. The engine is rated at 18 mpg in combined driving.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes dual front airbags, antilock brakes with brake assist, hill-start assist, traction control with a special 4-Lo setting, stability control with electronic roll mitigation, and trailer sway control. Front-seat side-impact airbags are optional.
• Infotainment: Available tech includes Uconnect with Bluetooth connectivity, a 6.5-inch color touchscreen, and navigation. The cabin also offers automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Wrangler is rated at 18 mpg in combined driving, and a loaded example returned 17.1 mpg during a week of driving.

Which 2014 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2014 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon X.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the most affordable way into the Wrangler, and it gives you the core formula: 4-wheel drive, V6 power, removable doors, and a folding windshield. It makes the most sense if you want the Wrangler experience without paying for extra equipment you may not need.
• Sahara: This trim is the better fit if you want a more polished daily-use version with more comfort-oriented equipment. It suits buyers who want Wrangler character but plan to spend more time on pavement than on trails.
• Rubicon: This is the best-value trim if off-road ability is your priority. It adds serious trail hardware, including Dana 44 axles, locking differentials, an electronic sway-bar disconnect, and Rock-Trac gearing.
• Rubicon X: This is the most specialized choice, adding a winch-ready steel front bumper, a steel rear bumper, and larger rock rails. It makes sense if you want the most trail-ready setup and are willing to pay for it.

The safety content also notes that front-seat side-impact airbags are optional, so you should verify whether a specific listing includes them.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price softness to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,135 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.25% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,421, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $15,421 sits slightly below last year's $16,626.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you’re thinking about short-term resale. If you plan to sell later, the key will be buying well and keeping the vehicle in strong condition.

Wranglers tend to hold buyer interest because they have a clear identity and a loyal audience. That said, resale will depend heavily on trim, condition, and how much wear the vehicle picked up from off-road use or hard daily driving.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2014 Jeep Wrangler earns a Good rating in the moderate overlap frontal-impact test from IIHS, a Marginal rating in small overlap frontal-impact and rear-impact injury prevention, and a Poor rating in the side-impact test. The Wrangler Unlimited 4-door improves to Marginal in side-impact protection.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes dual front airbags, antilock brakes with brake assist, hill-start assist, traction control with a special 4-Lo setting, stability control with electronic roll mitigation, and trailer sway control. Front-seat side-impact airbags are optional.

The main caveat is the Wrangler’s weak crash-test performance, especially in side impact, so safety-conscious buyers should weigh its off-road strengths against its protection limits.

Should I buy a 2014 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.25% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert review says it is built to go just about anywhere at a surprisingly affordable price.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $16,332, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $15,421 average.
• It adds an upgraded sound system and fresh editions.

The bottom line: If you want the lower entry price and are comfortable with the 2014’s rough-edged personality, this year makes sense. If you’re willing to spend more for a slightly updated version with extra appeal, the 2015 is the better secondary path.
