How much does the 2014 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 7.70% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,146 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and conditions.

Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.62/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its ruggedness, power, and versatile driving experience, and they also value how fun it is to drive, especially off-road. The overview makes the use case clear: this is a vehicle for you if you prioritize adventure and capability over comfort and convenience. With 31.5% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.62/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that feels fun, capable, rugged, and dependable in the kinds of situations it was built for. The expert review also emphasizes that customer complaints have dwindled since Jeep’s reboot in the early 2010s, which supports the idea that the model has settled into a more mature ownership experience. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to strong depreciation performance, which can help confidence in long-term ownership.

For used buyers, the main risk is that the Wrangler’s appeal comes with compromises, so condition and maintenance history matter more than usual.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Jeep Wrangler?

At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of body condition, underbody wear, and signs of hard use. Because this model is built for off-road duty, you’ll want to pay close attention to how it was driven and whether any damage or neglect shows up in the suspension, steering, or interior. Focus on the specific trim’s equipment, since the Wrangler’s capability and comfort can vary a lot by version.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Wrangler is offered as a short-wheelbase 2-door or long-wheelbase 4-door, and all versions have 4-wheel drive, a V6 engine, a convertible top, removable doors, and a folding windshield. The base setup is intentionally spartan, so if you want more comfort or trail hardware, you need to look closely at the equipment list.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.6-liter V6 with 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The engine is described as well suited to the Wrangler’s mission, and the combined fuel economy figure is 18 mpg.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes dual front airbags, antilock brakes with brake assist, hill-start assist, all-speed traction control with a special 4-Lo setting, stability control with electronic roll mitigation, and trailer sway control. Front-seat side-impact airbags are optional.
• Infotainment: Available tech includes Bluetooth connectivity, a 6.5-inch color touchscreen, and navigation. The Wrangler also offers automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Wrangler is rated at 18 mpg in combined driving, and a loaded example returned 17.1 mpg during a week of driving.

Which 2014 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2014 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon X.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the least expensive path into the Wrangler and the one that best fits you if you want the core Jeep experience without paying for extra hardware. It still gives you the essential Wrangler formula, and the review highlights that it can be equipped with the Tire and Wheel Group for stronger off-road capability at a lower price.
• Sahara: This trim is the better fit if you want a more polished daily-driving setup while keeping the Wrangler’s signature character. The expert review describes the Dragon Edition as based on the Sahara model and notes that it feels softer and more supple than the rough-riding Rubicons.
• Rubicon: This is the best-value trim if your priority is serious trail performance. It adds the hard-core off-road hardware the review calls out, including Dana 44 axles, locking differentials, an electronic sway-bar disconnect, and Rock-Trac gearing.
• Rubicon X: Choose this if you want the most heavily equipped off-road version and are willing to pay for it. The review says it adds a winch-ready steel front bumper, a steel rear bumper, and larger rock rails than the standard Rubicon.

The safety content notes that front-seat side-impact airbags are optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Jeep Wrangler?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find opportunities.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,146 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.70% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,340, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $15,340 sits slightly below last year's $16,620.

That decline suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can help you if you’re shopping now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect pricing pressure unless your Wrangler is especially clean, well maintained, or equipped with desirable off-road hardware. The model’s strong brand appeal and loyal following should still support demand, but condition will matter a lot.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The Wrangler earns a Good rating in the IIHS moderate overlap frontal-impact test, a Marginal rating in small overlap frontal-impact and rear-impact injury prevention, and a Poor rating in the side-impact test.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes dual front airbags, antilock brakes with brake assist, hill-start assist, all-speed traction control with a special 4-Lo setting, stability control with electronic roll mitigation, and trailer sway control. Front-seat side-impact airbags are optional. The crash-test results make clear that safety is one of the Wrangler’s weaker areas, especially in side-impact protection.

Should I buy a 2014 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.70% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 stands out for its surprisingly affordable price and uncompromised off-road focus.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $16,261, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $15,340 average.
• It adds an upgraded sound system and fresh editions.

The bottom line: If you want the lower entry price and are focused on the classic Wrangler formula, the 2014 is the better value. If you’re willing to pay more for a few updates and a slightly fresher feel, the 2015 is the better secondary path.
