How much does the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 5.75% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,614 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

You get a strong mix of spacious interior room, luxurious features, and impressive power, especially in the diesel model. The comfortable ride and high-tech options also come up repeatedly in owner feedback. That lines up with the overview’s focus on a vehicle that can handle rough terrain while still working well as a daily driver.

With 30.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback repeatedly points to reliability concerns, even as drivers praise the Grand Cherokee’s spacious cabin, comfortable ride, and strong performance. The expert review also notes average predicted reliability and calls out the risk of depreciation over time. That means you should expect a used example to reward careful shopping, especially if you want one that has been maintained consistently.

Jeep also highlights a broad set of safety and security features, which can help ownership confidence when the vehicle is properly equipped. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that repair costs and feature complexity can outweigh the savings if the truck has been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

At 58.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Focus on signs of prior body damage, uneven wear, and any evidence that expensive features or systems were repaired poorly. Because this model can be optioned in many different ways, condition matters as much as mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Jeep says the Grand Cherokee comes in Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit, and SRT. The base setup is the least lavish, while higher trims add more luxury and capability, and the SRT is the performance-focused choice.
• Powertrain: The standard setup uses a 290-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 with an 8-speed automatic. Jeep also mentions a clean-diesel V6 and available V8 powertrains, with the V6 noted as the more fuel-conscious choice.
• Safety package: Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation is part of the optional Advanced Technology Group, which also includes Adaptive Cruise Control, advanced brake assist, and Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Path Detection. Some features depend on trim level.
• Infotainment: Uconnect Access brings an 8.4-inch color touchscreen, simple menus, crisp graphics, improved voice recognition, mobile Wi-Fi access, Bluetooth music streaming, hands-free text messaging, and Emergency Call/9-1-1 service.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review cites a 19 mpg combined EPA rating and a 18.8 mpg mixed-driving test average.

Which 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 5 trim levels: Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit, and SRT.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point if you want the Grand Cherokee name and core capability without paying for extra luxury. It makes the most sense if you care more about value than features.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a more upscale cabin and the kind of equipment that makes the Grand Cherokee feel properly premium without jumping to the highest prices.
• Overland: Choose this if you want a more luxurious feel and more of the Grand Cherokee’s upscale character.
• Summit: This is the luxury-focused choice, and Jeep says it debuts for 2014 as the new premium-themed trim.
• SRT: This is the performance-oriented model for buyers who want track-ready tuning rather than trail-first character.

Safety equipment and advanced driver-assistance features vary by trim level, so check carefully before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right one.

• Deal availability: 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,614 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.75% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,673, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $10,673 sits slightly below last year's $11,324.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. A softer market now can also mean less downside later if demand stays steady. The key is to avoid overpaying for a used example with questionable history or heavy wear.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns an overall four-star rating from NHTSA, and the IIHS gives it the highest rating of Good in 4 of its 5 evaluations.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep says the Grand Cherokee includes over 70 safety- and security-related features, including standard rain-brake support, ready-alert braking, and a driver knee airbag. The optional Advanced Technology Group adds Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, advanced brake assist, and Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Path Detection. Trailer Sway Control, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive headlights, run-flat tires, and Call 9-1-1 services are also available depending on trim level.

One caveat is that the Grand Cherokee has not been evaluated in the IIHS small overlap frontal-impact test, so you should keep that in mind when comparing it with newer rivals.

Should I buy a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 brings major tech upgrades, including an 8.4-inch touchscreen and available Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,479, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,673 average.
• It offers a broader range of trims and engines for more customization.

The bottom line: Choose the 2014 if you want a lower entry price and strong feature content. If you want more trim and engine variety and are willing to pay more, the 2015 is the better fit.

How does the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee compare to the 2014 Dodge Durango?

Our experts score the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee 7.5/10 and the 2014 Dodge Durango 7.5/10.

The Grand Cherokee gives you stronger deal availability and a larger used-car pool, while the Durango is slightly cheaper on average. Both share the same engine output and highway fuel economy in the table below, so your decision comes down more to market selection and the kind of SUV feel you want. The Grand Cherokee also has a slightly better accident-free share and a stronger good-and-great-deal share.
