How much does the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe cost?

Prices are up 5.84% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 154 listings available, which gives you a modest pool to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?

The 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe earns an 8.2/10 expert rating, and its strongest category score is Look and feel at 10/10.

The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

It stands out as a genuinely usable three-row people mover, with room for six sizable people and a more comfortable adult-friendly layout than many rivals. It also brings stylish design, engaging driving dynamics, and a more sophisticated feel than you might expect from a family crossover, while still making sense for safety and cost of ownership.

28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market has some value opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?

The 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe is presented as a sensible choice for safety and cost of ownership, and its ownership coverage is a major strength.

Hyundai backs it with a 5-year/60,000-mile limited warranty, 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage, and 5 years of roadside assistance with no mileage limit. The expert review also notes average reliability predictions, while the redesigned version had rated better than most in a prior quality study, which points to a solid ownership outlook.

The 3.3-liter V6 and 6-speed automatic are described as strong, refined, and smooth, which supports confidence in everyday use. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a higher-mileage example may be more sensitive to maintenance history and prior wear than a newer one.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe?

At 54.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the equipment and safety features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GLS starts with the core Santa Fe setup, while the Limited adds leather seats, a power front passenger seat, second-row captain’s chairs, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless passive entry with push-button start, a power liftgate, a blind-spot information system, upgraded instrumentation, manual rear side window sunshades, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror with a compass, and a universal garage door opener. The Limited is the better-equipped choice if you want the most comfort and convenience.
• Powertrain: The larger Santa Fe uses a 3.3-liter V6 with 290 horsepower and a 6-speed automatic with Shiftronic manual-shift capability. It also includes an Active Eco driving mode, and the available AWD system adds torque vectoring for improved traction and stability.
• Safety package: Every Santa Fe includes Blue Link telematics with 3 free years of Assurance Connected Care service, including Automatic Collision Notification and SOS Emergency Assistance. Available safety equipment includes a reversing camera, rear parking assist sensors, and a blind-spot information system.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming, satellite radio, an auxiliary audio input jack, and a USB port. Available upgrades include HD Radio, a Surround Sound system, and a navigation and infotainment system with an 8-inch color touchscreen display.
• Fuel efficiency: The Santa Fe is rated at 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, with 21 mpg combined driving.

Which 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe trim should I buy?

The 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe is offered in 2 trim levels: GLS and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• GLS: This is the starting point, and it gives you the core Santa Fe experience with the available Premium and Technology packages if you want to build up from there. It makes sense if you want to keep the purchase price in check and choose only the features you actually need.
• Limited: This is the better-value choice if you want the most comfort and convenience from the start, since it adds leather seats, captain’s chairs, a power front passenger seat, keyless entry with push-button start, a power liftgate, and a blind-spot information system.

The available Technology Package adds more luxury and tech content, including an 8-inch touchscreen navigation system, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, and more.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe?

This is a seller’s market, so you should act selectively and be ready to move when you find a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 154 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 5.84% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 54.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,608, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe's resale value?

The current average of $9,292 sits slightly above last year's $8,780.

That upward move suggests the Santa Fe has held demand well relative to its age. If you buy carefully and keep mileage and condition in check, you should have a reasonable shot at preserving value better than a weaker-priced alternative.

Is the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe safe?

The 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe earns Good ratings in 4 of 5 IIHS tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Santa Fe includes Blue Link telematics with 3 free years of Assurance Connected Care service, including Automatic Collision Notification and SOS Emergency Assistance. Available safety equipment also includes a reversing camera, rear parking assist sensors, and a blind-spot information system.

One caveat is that the IIHS had not yet assessed the Santa Fe in the difficult small-overlap frontal-impact test at the time of the review, so you should pay close attention to crash history and repair quality on used examples.

Should I buy a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 5.84% year-over-year.
• It offers a roomy, comfortable three-row layout with strong safety and ownership appeal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $9,555, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $9,292 average.
• It adds a more engaging turbocharged driving character.

The bottom line: The 2014 is the better buy if you want the stronger value proposition and a more established price point. If you’re willing to pay more for a different driving character, the 2015 is the alternative to compare.

How does the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe compare to the 2014 Kia Sorento?

Our experts score the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe 8.2/10 and the 2014 Kia Sorento 7.3/10.

The Santa Fe is the stronger pick if you want more power, a roomier-feeling three-row layout, and a more upscale overall presentation. The Sorento counters with a lower average used price and a larger pool of listings, so it can make sense if your priority is spending less upfront. The Santa Fe also has the better expert score, while the Sorento offers slightly better fuel economy and a higher accident-free share.
