How much does the 2014 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 1.31% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,857 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare on price and condition.

Is the 2014 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Honda Civic earns a 4.75/5 from owners and an 8.17/10 from expert testing. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, value for money, and smooth driving feel. The review summary also points to solid performance and good overall condition, while the overview frames it as a refined, capable compact sedan that feels more polished than its price suggests.

For you, that means this Civic makes the most sense if you want a commuter-friendly car that feels well put together without pushing into a higher price bracket. 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2014 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary emphasizes reliability, and the cost-effectiveness notes call out “astounding reliability,” low expected ownership costs, and trouble-free ownership. The performance writeup also reinforces the car’s dependable character by describing the engine, steering, and brakes as refined and well behaved in everyday use.

If you’re shopping used, the main long-term risk is less about the Civic’s core durability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by age or heavy use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Civic?

At 47.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or visible wear. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the cabin and electronics still work as intended. Because this model has a wide spread of trims and equipment, it also helps to confirm that the features you want are actually present on the specific car you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes LX, EX, EX-L, Si, HF, Hybrid, and Natural Gas. The LX is the simplest starting point, while the EX adds aluminum wheels, automatic climate control, a power sunroof, two USB ports, a security system, automatic headlights, LaneWatch, Smart Entry with push-button ignition, a 7-inch display, upgraded audio, and HondaLink. The EX-L adds leather seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, foglights, and 17-inch wheels, with navigation and additional audio features available on top. The cabin quality is strong across the range, but the base trim leaves out some of the convenience and appearance upgrades you may want.
• Powertrain: Most models use a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine with 143 hp and 129 lb-ft of torque, paired with a CVT that is tuned to feel natural and unobtrusive. The CVT helps deliver 30 mpg city, 39 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined in the sedan, and the engine is described as refined and adequate for everyday driving.
• Safety package: The Civic uses Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, and standard equipment includes an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, a reversing camera, and SmartVent front side-impact airbags. LaneWatch is standard on the EX and higher trims, while Forward Collision Warning is reserved for the Hybrid and Lane Departure Warning is only on the Hybrid.
• Infotainment: Most models get a 7-inch touchscreen display, and the LX includes Bluetooth connectivity, music streaming, text messaging support, a USB port, and Pandora Internet radio. The EX adds HondaLink smartphone pairing and services, Smart Entry with push-button start, and Siri Eyes Free support. The system is feature-rich, but the interface can take some getting used to.
• Fuel efficiency: The sedan with the 1.8-liter engine and CVT is rated at 30 mpg city, 39 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined.

Which 2014 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2014 Honda Civic is offered in 7 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Si, HF, Hybrid, and Natural Gas.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value starting point if you want the Civic’s core strengths at the lowest entry price. It includes Bluetooth connectivity, music streaming, text messaging support, a USB port, and Pandora Internet radio, but it leaves out many of the convenience and appearance upgrades found higher up the range.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a strong mix of comfort and tech upgrades without jumping too far in price. You get aluminum wheels, automatic climate control, a power sunroof, two USB ports, a security system, automatic headlights, LaneWatch, Smart Entry with push-button ignition, a 7-inch display, upgraded audio, and HondaLink.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want the Civic to feel more upscale. It adds leather seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, foglights, and 17-inch wheels, with navigation and additional audio features available if equipped.
• Si: This is the performance-oriented choice, with a revised suspension, more horsepower and torque, and larger 18-inch wheels. It suits you best if driving feel matters more than everyday comfort or fuel savings.
• HF: This trim is aimed at efficiency-focused buyers who want a fuel-saving Civic without moving into the Hybrid or Natural Gas variants.
• Hybrid: This is the efficiency and safety standout, and it is the only trim mentioned with Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning. If those features matter to you, this is the trim to target.
• Natural Gas: This is the niche choice for buyers who specifically want the compressed natural gas version, and it gains a leather interior and navigation.

The safety package is strongest on the Hybrid, since that trim gets Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning that other trims do not.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Civic?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully without waiting for a dramatic bargain.

• Deal availability: 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,857 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.31% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 47.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,572, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $11,072 sits slightly below last year's $11,220.

That modest decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can work in your favor if you’re buying now. For a future seller, it means you should expect value retention to be decent rather than exceptional, especially if the car accumulates mileage or shows cosmetic wear.

The Civic still has a strong reputation for reliability and ownership value, which helps support demand on the used market. Well-kept examples should remain easier to move than average compact cars, but condition and trim will matter a lot when it’s time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Honda Civic safe?

The 2014 Honda Civic earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Civic’s standard safety equipment includes an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, a reversing camera, and SmartVent front side-impact airbags. Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure is also part of the safety story, and the EX and higher trims add LaneWatch. The Hybrid is the only trim called out with Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning, so safety tech is not evenly distributed across the lineup.

Should I buy a 2014 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 47.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert testing highlights a refined, capable sedan with strong value, tech, and safety for the money.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,259, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $11,072 average.
• It emphasizes reliability, safety, fuel efficiency, quality, and value even more directly.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and solid expert scores. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2015 is the cleaner alternative for buyers who want a straightforward compact sedan with a slightly fresher market position.
