How much does the 2014 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices are up 6.47% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,229 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Ford Mustang earns a 4.86/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Cost effectiveness.

Drivers consistently praise the powerful performance, classic design, thrilling driving experience, and strong handling. The overview also points to a car that blends classic Mustang character with a more polished driving experience, which makes it appealing if you want a performance car with a long-established identity.

That said, the same feedback also points to cramped back seats and smaller trunk space in some models, so it fits you best if style and performance matter more than everyday practicality. With 29.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still room to shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights dependable performance, a trouble-free feel, and the kind of classic ownership experience many buyers want to count on. The expert review also notes above-average dependability in comparison testing, which supports the idea that this is a car you can reasonably expect to live with over time.

The cost-effectiveness review adds that the Mustang’s powertrain warranty is on par with the Nissan 370Z’s but shorter than the Camaro’s, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance records and remaining wear items.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Mustang?

At 58.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or driven hard. Focus on body condition, panel alignment, tire wear, brake condition, and signs of abuse or deferred maintenance. If you’re shopping a convertible, pay extra attention to top operation and weather sealing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Mustang brings a 6-cylinder engine, cruise control, stainless steel dual exhaust, HID headlights, and 17-inch alloy wheels, while the V6 Premium adds leather upholstery, SYNC, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, aluminum interior trim, a premium audio package with satellite radio, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The GT trims add a 5.0-liter powerplant, touchscreen navigation with real-time traffic, upgraded Brembo brakes, a programmable key, upgraded audio with a trunk-mounted subwoofer, SYNC, HID headlights, functional hood vents, and 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a 3.7-liter V6 with 305 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, and it can return an EPA-estimated 31 mpg on the highway with the 6-speed manual. The GT uses a 5.0-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, and the automatic is rated at 18 city, 25 highway, and 20 combined.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control, hill-start assist with the available 6-speed manual transmission, and 4 airbags. The car does not include blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Ford’s SYNC AppLink technology, and available upgrades add a touchscreen, voice-controlled navigation, SiriusXM real-time traffic information, HD radio, a 6-month Travel Link subscription, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a rear-view camera.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 with the 6-speed manual is rated at 31 mpg on the highway, while the GT automatic is rated at 18 city, 25 highway, and 20 combined. The GT Premium Convertible also posts 26 mpg on the highway in comparison testing.

Which 2014 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2014 Ford Mustang is offered in 4 trim levels: base, V6 Premium, GT, GT Premium.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the value entry point if you want the Mustang’s core look and feel without paying for extras. You get the 6-cylinder engine, cruise control, stainless steel dual exhaust, HID headlights, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
• V6 Premium: This is the best-value trim if you want a more comfortable and better-equipped daily driver without jumping to V8 pricing. It adds leather upholstery, SYNC, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, aluminum interior trim, a premium audio package with satellite radio, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.
• GT: Choose this if you want the V8 experience and the biggest jump in performance. It adds the 5.0-liter engine, Brembo brakes, navigation with real-time traffic, upgraded audio with a trunk-mounted subwoofer, functional hood vents, and larger wheels.
• GT Premium: This is the trim to target if you want the most complete Mustang experience and can justify the higher price. It layers on the GT’s performance hardware with more comfort and convenience equipment, and it’s the trim tied to Track Apps in the expert review.

The safety content notes that the car includes standard stability control, antilock brakes, hill-start assist with the manual transmission, and 4 airbags, but lacks several advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Mustang?

Act selectively, because this is still a seller’s market and the best cars can move quickly.

• Deal availability: 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,229 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 6.47% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 58.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,332, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $15,883 sits slightly above last year's $14,918.

That upward move suggests the market still values this model year, especially when the car is in clean condition and priced competitively. If you buy well and keep maintenance records, you should have a better shot at preserving value when it’s time to sell. The relatively tight year-round price range also suggests that well-kept examples can hold their appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2014 Ford Mustang Convertible earns five-star rollover protection from NHTSA, while IIHS results were published for the 2013 Mustang Convertible rather than this model year.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control, hill-start assist with the available 6-speed manual transmission, and 4 airbags. The car does not offer blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning, so you should not expect a modern driver-assistance suite here.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 6.47% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 model represents the culmination of five decades of Mustang development, blending classic character with a more polished driving experience.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $19,945, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $15,883 average.
• It brings a redesigned Mustang with a clear step forward in dynamics and technology.

The bottom line: If you want the lower entry price and a classic Mustang feel, the 2014 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to spend more for a redesigned car with a bigger leap in technology and dynamics, the 2015 is the better long-term choice. For price-sensitive shoppers, the 2014 offers the stronger value proposition right now.
