What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Fusion?

At 56.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because the model is praised for its tech and safety equipment, you’ll also want to confirm that those systems work properly rather than assuming they do. Focus on overall condition, since a well-kept example is more likely to deliver the polished driving experience this car is known for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Titanium trim sits above the SE and the new-for-2014 S trim, and it adds a more upscale feel with features such as active park assist, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control, navigation, inflatable rear seatbelts, and the Driver Assistance Package. If you want the most equipment and the strongest luxury lean, this is the trim to target.
• Powertrain: The Fusion Hybrid pairs a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery, sending power through a CVT. It is described as immediate in electric operation, quick in its transitions, and lighter than the previous generation.
• Safety package: The Driver Assistance Package includes lane-keep assist and blind-spot alert. Standard safety equipment also includes eight airbags, inflatable rear seatbelts, traction and stability control, adaptive cruise control, and lane keep, though some of those features may not appear on every trim.
• Infotainment: The Titanium trim can be equipped with navigation and a 12-speaker Sony audio system. The touchscreen and Sync system are described as useful but sometimes overly complex, so you should test the interface carefully.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid was updated to 44 mpg city/41 highway/42 combined, and the electric-only operation can reach up to 85 mph.

Which 2014 Ford Fusion trim should I buy?

The 2014 Ford Fusion is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Fusion nameplate and are comfortable giving up the richer equipment found higher up.
• SE: This is the trim most buyers should start with if they want a balanced mix of value and features without stretching to the top model.
• Titanium: This is the best-value choice if you want the most upscale experience, since it brings the richest equipment list and the strongest luxury feel in the lineup.

The safety-package note to keep in mind is that the Driver Assistance Package adds lane-keep assist and blind-spot alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Fusion?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 924 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.31% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $7,576, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Fusion's resale value?

The current average of $7,693 sits slightly below last year's $8,040.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become more approachable for buyers, which can help keep demand steady in the used market. For a future seller, that means your best resale outcome will likely depend on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than expecting appreciation. Well-kept examples with desirable features should still attract attention, especially because the model has a strong reputation with owners.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Ford Fusion safe?

The 2014 Ford Fusion earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and three-star ratings in side crash for the front seat. It also earns Good ratings from IIHS in all tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety suite includes eight airbags, inflatable rear seatbelts, traction and stability control, blind-spot alert, 4-wheel disc brakes, adaptive cruise control, lane keep, SOS Post Crash, and 911 Assist. The Driver Assistance Package adds lane-keep assist and blind-spot alert.

The main caveat is the weaker NHTSA side-crash result for front-seat occupants, so you should weigh the strong equipment list against that test performance.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Now 1 year off a 2013 redesign, the Fusion continues to add tech to an already-attractive package.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $8,237, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $7,693 average.
• It is described as a sexy, distinctive sedan with a strong overall package.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a healthy supply of listings. If you can spend more and want the next model year’s styling and overall polish, the 2015 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2014 first.
