Used 2014 Ford Focus for Sale near Kansas

How much does the 2014 Ford Focus cost?

Prices have softened 4.37% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,162 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Ford Focus a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Ford Focus earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Drivers most often praise its stylish design, excellent fuel economy, and useful features like the sound system and comfortable front seats. The overview also points to a small car that feels more substantial and polished than a typical economy car, with a composed chassis and responsive suspension.

That mix makes it appealing if you want a compact car that feels more refined than stripped-down transportation. With 27.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s also some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Ford Focus reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly points to the car being dependable in the ways shoppers care about most, with praise for its value, enjoyable driving character, and features that make daily use easier. At the same time, the recurring transmission issues are a major theme in owner comments, and that concern shows up often enough that you should take it seriously.

The performance notes also reinforce that the dual-clutch automatic can be quirky in traffic and may require more attention than a traditional automatic. If you’re buying used, that means your long-term ownership risk is tied less to the car’s basic design and more to how well the transmission has held up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Focus?

At 62% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has the automatic transmission. Focus on signs of prior body damage, uneven wear, and any evidence that the car has been driven hard or maintained inconsistently.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Titanium trim adds a more upscale feel with features like the handling package, 18-inch alloys, navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, a rear-view camera, keyless entry and start, and the upgraded Sony sound system. Base S and SE trims are more basic, and the safety content notes that S and SE use rear drum brakes while other trims get 4-wheel discs.
• Powertrain: The main setup uses a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated inline 4-cylinder with 160 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque, paired with a dual-clutch 6-speed automatic. A 5-speed manual is also mentioned, and the performance notes say the dual-clutch can feel hesitant in traffic.
• Safety package: Seven airbags come standard, including a driver’s knee airbag. The car also earned a full 5-star overall score from NHTSA, with 5-star ratings in all tests except frontal passenger and rollover, where it received 4 stars. The IIHS gave it its highest rating of Good in all tests.
• Infotainment: The Titanium includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Ford Sync, MyFord Touch, navigation, and the Sony audio system. The tech notes also mention that the interface can be clunky and distracting to use while driving.
• Fuel efficiency: The automatic returns 27 mpg city and 37 highway, while the manual drops 1 mpg on both ends.

Which 2014 Ford Focus trim should I buy?

The 2014 Ford Focus is offered in 1 trim level: Titanium.

Here's the short version:

The Titanium is the trim that best captures what this Focus does well if you want the most equipment and the most polished presentation. It adds the strongest mix of comfort, convenience, and appearance upgrades, including the handling package, upgraded audio, navigation, dual-zone climate control, and keyless entry and start.

If you want the most complete version of this model year, the Titanium is the clear choice. It is the best-value trim if you care about features and refinement more than keeping the purchase price as low as possible.

The safety content notes that S and SE trims use rear drum brakes, while other trims get 4-wheel discs.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Focus?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 27.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,162 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $6,787, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Focus's resale value?

The current average of $6,787 sits slightly below last year's $7,097.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. If you plan to resell later, the softer pricing means your upside is more about buying well than expecting appreciation.

The good news is that a lower purchase price can also make depreciation feel less painful if you keep the car for several years. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Ford Focus safe?

The 2014 Ford Focus earns a full 5-star overall score from NHTSA, with 5-star ratings in all tests except frontal passenger and rollover, where it received 4 stars.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Seven airbags come standard, including a driver’s knee airbag. The IIHS gave the Focus its highest rating of Good in all tests, which is a strong sign for crash protection.

One caveat is that safety can vary by trim. The safety notes also point out that S and SE trims use rear drum brakes, while other trims get 4-wheel discs, and stopping performance is strongest on the Titanium with summer tires and discs at all four corners.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Focus or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 27.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 stands out for its polished chassis, responsive suspension, and strong safety results.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $7,511, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $6,787 average.
• It was engineered in Europe and built in Michigan, with a more sophisticated feel and broader configuration choices.

The bottom line: If you want the lower-priced option and are comfortable shopping carefully around transmission history, the 2014 is the better value play. If you’re willing to spend more for a refreshed feel and broader configuration flexibility, the 2015 is the better alternative.
