Why it stands out
The 2014 Ford Fiesta stands out as a subcompact that feels more polished and more appealing than many cars in its class. Its 2014 mid-life refresh gave it standout looks, and that matters because the styling helps draw attention to what the Fiesta offers: a well-equipped interior with artful design and important entertainment technology. It is also described as a car that can make buyers feel like they are getting something a little more mature, which helps explain its broad appeal.
Behind the wheel, the Fiesta is composed in city and highway driving, with little body roll. That makes it a reassuring everyday car, but it also has a playful side: with a manual transmission and the right driver, it can be serious fun. Owners also praise its cute design, fuel efficiency, backup cameras, heated seats, and overall value. The main drawback mentioned is engine reliability, including head gasket issues, so while the Fiesta has a lot of charm and equipment for the money, buyers should pay attention to its mechanical history.

I think this is a great car for the features that it brings. This car is small on the outside but very spacious inside. Plenty of bells and whistles come with the Titanium version. I personally like the backup camera, heated seats, and sun roof that the car comes with.

| Year-Round Low | $6,215 |
| Year-Round High | $7,268 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $6,537 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −4.01% |
Prices have softened 4.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 335 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2014 Ford Fiesta a good car?
Generally — the 2014 Ford Fiesta earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Technology.
Owners consistently praise its cute design, fuel efficiency, and fun driving experience, along with useful features like backup cameras and heated seats. The Fiesta also fits buyers who want a compact car that feels a little more polished and mature than many rivals, especially if you value style and everyday value.
Good and great deals make up 28.1% of listings, so you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Ford Fiesta reliable?
Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owners also describe it as a good value with a fun, dependable-feeling driving experience, and they repeatedly point to its fuel efficiency and useful features as reasons they like living with it. The expert review also emphasizes that the Fiesta is composed in city and highway driving, with little body roll, and that its forgiving clutch and easy-to-find gears make it approachable for everyday use.
The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is the engine history, so you should pay close attention to maintenance records and mechanical condition.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Fiesta?
At 63.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has incomplete service records. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and any mechanical issues that could point to neglected maintenance. Because owners mention engine reliability concerns, a careful check of the powertrain history matters more than usual.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base S trim comes standard with Ford’s Sync multimedia system, an auxiliary audio input jack, and a multifunction message center with an LCD information screen. The SE adds cruise control, a trip computer, 7-color ambient lighting, and MyKey, while the Titanium adds a backup camera, reverse-sensing system, and push-button start.
- Powertrain: All trims use Ford’s 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with 120 horsepower and 112 pound-feet of torque. A 5-speed manual is recommended for the most engaging driving, while a 6-speed automatic is available.
- Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes dual-stage first-row airbags, driver’s knee airbags, side impact airbags, side curtain airbags, traction control, stability control, improved side-impact structures, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The Titanium trim adds a backup camera and reverse-sensing system.
- Infotainment: Ford Sync comes standard, including MyFordTouch touchscreen functionality and voice control. The system is described as effective for phone and music integration, though the interface can be fiddly.
- Fuel efficiency: The 5-speed manual is rated at 27 mpg city and 38 highway, while the 6-speed automatic is listed at 29 city and 39 highway. A 1.0-liter turbocharged engine is also mentioned as capable of as much as 35 mpg on the highway.
Which 2014 Ford Fiesta trim should I buy?
The 2014 Ford Fiesta is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the value play if you want the Fiesta’s core personality at the lowest entry point. You still get Sync, an auxiliary audio input jack, and the multifunction message center, so it covers the basics well.
- SE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the most useful everyday upgrades, including cruise control, a trip computer, ambient lighting, and MyKey. If you want a nicer-feeling Fiesta without jumping to the top trim, this is the one to target.
- Titanium: Choose this if you want the most convenience features, especially the backup camera, reverse-sensing system, and push-button start. It makes the Fiesta feel the most complete, but you’ll want to compare the price premium carefully.
The Titanium trim adds the backup camera and reverse-sensing system, which are the most notable safety-related upgrades in the lineup.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Fiesta?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.
- Deal availability: 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 335 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.01% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 63.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $6,215, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Ford Fiesta's resale value?
The current average of $6,275 sits slightly below last year's $6,537.
That softer pricing suggests the Fiesta has already absorbed some of its depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase a clean, well-maintained example, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it’s time to sell. The key is to avoid cars with questionable history or deferred maintenance, since those are harder to recover from in resale.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Ford Fiesta safe?
The 2014 Ford Fiesta earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with five-star ratings for the driver in a frontal crash and the second row in side crash testing, and four-star ratings for the front passenger in a frontal crash and the front row in side crash testing.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes dual-stage first-row airbags, driver’s knee airbags, side impact airbags, side curtain airbags, traction control, stability control, improved side-impact structures, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The Titanium trim adds a backup camera and reverse-sensing system, which are useful upgrades if you want more parking confidence.
Should I buy a 2014 Ford Fiesta or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 63.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.01% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2014 refresh gives the Fiesta standout looks and a well-equipped interior with important entertainment technology.
Consider the 2015 if:
- It adds an EcoBoost model and a more flexible personality.
The bottom line: If you want the better-value buy, the 2014 is the stronger starting point because pricing has softened and the refresh gives it a more appealing look and feel. If you’re willing to spend more for a broader powertrain mix, the 2015 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2014’s stronger value proposition.
