CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Ford Fiesta
overall

Summary
With 309 currently listed for sale and an average price of $6,361.00, 29.1% of 2014 Ford Fiestas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Ford Fiesta 4.33 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.
66.7% of 2014 Fiesta models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2014 Ford Fiesta stands out as a subcompact that tries to be more appealing than merely practical. Its mid-life refresh gave it standout looks, and that matters because the design helps draw attention to what the car offers: a well-equipped interior with artful styling and entertainment technology. It is also described as a car that can make city-car ownership feel more desirable, especially for buyers who want something small without giving up a sense of personality.
Behind the styling, the Fiesta has a composed road feel in both city and highway driving, with little body roll. It can also be a lot of fun if you know how to use a manual transmission well. That combination of agility and driver involvement gives it a character that many small cars lack. At the same time, the appeal is not just about driving enjoyment; the cabin equipment and overall presentation help make it feel like a sensible hatch that still has some style.
Owners also praise the 2014 Ford Fiesta for its cute design, fuel efficiency, and fun driving experience, along with features such as backup cameras and heated seats. It is often seen as a good value for a compact car. The main caution is that some owners have raised concerns about engine reliability, including head gasket issues, which is an important drawback to keep in mind.

The Ford fiesta is a very good fit for me as I went from a V8 to a four-cylinder car so far $36 fills up my gas tank, which is great. Last me about two weeks The car, roomie, luxurious, and very reliable.

I really appreciate the compact design of the Ford Fiesta. Its over twenty miles per gallon which is actually pretty fuel efficient. Its got everything it needs for a smooth and comfortable ride. Id say its like the little brother of the Ford Focus but its also the cousin of both Mustang and Ford Shogun

I think this is a great car for the features that it brings. This car is small on the outside but very spacious inside. Plenty of bells and whistles come with the Titanium version. I personally like the backup camera, heated seats, and sun roof that the car comes with.

Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. In owner feedback, the Fiesta is described as a car people appreciate for its good value, fuel efficiency, and enjoyable day-to-day use, and some owners also describe it as dependable enough to live with over time.
The expert driving notes reinforce that impression by describing the car as composed in city and highway driving, with a forgiving clutch and easy-to-find gears that make it approachable. The cost-effectiveness commentary also points to a car that delivers a lot of equipment for the money, which helps ownership feel worthwhile.
The main used-buyer risk is that some owners have reported engine reliability concerns, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and any signs of prior mechanical trouble.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Fiesta?
At 66.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a collision or shows uneven wear. Focus on body condition, panel alignment, and any signs that repairs were not completed cleanly, then make sure the mechanical side checks out before you commit.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base S trim comes with Ford’s Sync multimedia system, an auxiliary audio input jack, and a multifunction message center with an LCD information screen, while the SE adds cruise control, a trip computer, 7-color ambient lighting, and MyKey. The Titanium adds a backup camera, reverse-sensing system, and push-button start, so the lower trims leave you without some convenience and parking aids.
- Powertrain: All trims use a 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with 120 horsepower and 112 pound-feet of torque. A 5-speed manual is recommended for the most engaging driving, while a 6-speed automatic is available, and a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine is also mentioned as coming to SE trims.
- Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes dual-stage first-row airbags, driver's knee airbags, side impact airbags, side curtain airbags, traction control, stability control, improved side-impact structures, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The text does not indicate that every trim gets the same convenience-oriented safety aids.
- Infotainment: Ford Sync comes standard, including MyFordTouch touchscreen functionality. The system is described as having a touchscreen layout and software that had improved by 2014, though the buttons are still small and the interface can be fiddly.
- Fuel efficiency: The 5-speed manual is rated at 27 mpg city/38 highway, the 6-speed automatic is listed at 29 city/39 highway, and the 1.0-liter turbocharged engine can deliver as much as 35 mpg on the highway.
Which 2014 Ford Fiesta trim should I buy?
The 2014 Ford Fiesta is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Fiesta experience with Sync, an auxiliary audio input jack, and the multifunction message center. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but you give up the convenience and driver-assist extras found higher up.
- SE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds cruise control, a trip computer, 7-color ambient lighting, and MyKey without jumping all the way to the top trim. If you want the sweet spot between price and features, this is the one to target.
- Titanium: This is the most feature-rich version, adding a backup camera, reverse-sensing system, and push-button start. Choose it if you want the most convenience and parking help from the factory.
The safety equipment listed in the safety content is standard gear, but the higher trims add useful convenience features that make daily driving easier.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Fiesta?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare listings.
- Deal availability: 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 310 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.04% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 66.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $6,339.61, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Ford Fiesta's resale value?
The current average of $6,357 sits slightly below last year's $6,913.
That price movement suggests the Fiesta has become more accessible for buyers, which can help you if you're shopping now but may limit upside if you're planning to resell soon. A softer market often means future sellers need to price competitively to move the car, especially in a segment where shoppers have plenty of alternatives.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Ford Fiesta safe?
It earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings for the driver in a frontal crash and five-star ratings for second-row side impact, plus four-star ratings for the front passenger in frontal crash and front-row side impact.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes dual-stage first-row airbags, driver's knee airbags, side impact airbags, side curtain airbags, traction control, stability control, improved side-impact structures, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The lower frontal and front-row side-impact results are the main caveats to keep in mind when you compare it with other small cars.
Should I buy a 2014 Ford Fiesta or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 66.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.04% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2014 refresh gives the Fiesta standout looks and a well-equipped interior with strong entertainment tech.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $6,488, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $6,357 average.
- It adds a trapezoidal grille, revised rear fascia, and an EcoBoost model.
The bottom line: If you want the better value right now, the 2014 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a refreshed design. If you’re willing to spend more for a slightly newer look and the added EcoBoost option, the 2015 is the better secondary path.
