How much does the 2014 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 8.03% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,757 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and conditions.

Is the 2014 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Ford Explorer earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its comfort, space, and performance, and many also like its stylish design and value for money. For you, that makes it a practical choice if you want a roomy, family-friendly SUV with everyday usability and a broad feature set. With 29.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers find dependable enough to live with over time, especially when it comes to comfort and day-to-day usability. At the same time, some owners mention maintenance costs and concerns with higher-mileage examples, so condition matters a lot on the used market. For you, that means a well-kept example can make sense, but long-term ownership risk rises if service history is thin or wear items have been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Explorer?

At 60.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you commit. A pre-purchase inspection should be a priority, especially if the listing has higher mileage or incomplete maintenance documentation. Focus your attention on overall condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the SUV feels well maintained during the test drive.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,757 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.03% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,002, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $9,002 sits slightly below last year's $9,788.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and documentation rather than just the model name. Well-kept examples should hold up better than neglected ones, especially if they present cleanly and have a strong service record.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2014 makes sense if you want a roomy, family-oriented SUV and you find a clean example with strong records at a competitive price. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-maintained listing rather than the cheapest one.
