Used 2014 Dodge Journey for Sale nearLos Angeles, CA

How much does the 2014 Dodge Journey cost?

Prices have softened 3.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 448 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 Dodge Journey a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Dodge Journey earns a 4/5 user rating and a 5.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.

The Journey’s appeal comes through in its practical, easy-to-use interior, low price tag, and available V6 power, while its good crash-test ratings add reassurance. It also fits buyers who want everyday utility and affordability more than a polished all-around driving experience.

The market shows 26.6% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Dodge Journey reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Journey’s overview points to a crossover that was improved over time, but the expert evaluation also notes that its overall package is uneven. The cost-effectiveness assessment is less encouraging, with below-average long-term reliability expectations and ownership costs that compare poorly with other crossover SUVs.

The 3.6-liter V6 is described as refined and strong, and the 6-speed automatic is tuned to help maximize fuel economy, but the transmission’s behavior and the vehicle’s below-average long-term reliability outlook mean you should pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition before committing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Dodge Journey?

At 57.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has any accident history or incomplete service records. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and drivability match the seller’s description.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from the American Value Package to the SE, SXT, SXT Plus, Limited, R/T, and Crossroad. The base version is positioned as the most affordable, while the SE adds more equipment and popular options; the Limited is the more luxurious choice, and the R/T is the sportier version.
• Powertrain: A 173-hp 2.4-liter 4-cylinder is standard in some models, while a 283-hp 3.6-liter V6 is strongly recommended. The V6 is paired with a 6-speed automatic, and it delivers strong performance with fuel economy that is nearly as good as the smaller engine.
• Safety package: The Journey includes a standard knee airbag for the driver. A reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors are available on some trims, but Dodge does not offer more advanced safety technology here.
• Infotainment: The available Uconnect 8.4 touchscreen is a major strength, with easy Bluetooth pairing, large graphics and icons, big virtual buttons, voice command, real-time traffic and weather, and optional Wi-Fi hotspot capability.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 front-wheel-drive model is rated at 17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined.

Which 2014 Dodge Journey trim should I buy?

The 2014 Dodge Journey is offered in 6 trim levels: American Value Package, SE, SXT, SXT Plus, Limited, and R/T.

Here's the short version:

• American Value Package: This is the budget-focused entry point, and it makes the most sense if your priority is maximum room for minimal money.
• SE: This is the trim most buyers will want because it adds more equipment and popular options without jumping to the higher-priced versions.
• SXT: This is one of the best-selling trims and a sensible middle ground if you want a well-rounded setup.
• SXT Plus: This is the best-value choice if you want more equipment and are considering the available V6 and option groups.
• Limited: Choose this if you want the more luxurious version of the Journey, with the V6 standard.
• R/T: Pick this if you want the sportier version, with the V6 standard as well.

The safety content notes that a reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors are optional depending on trim level, so it’s worth checking whether a specific listing includes those features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Dodge Journey?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 448 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.57% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $6,455, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Dodge Journey's resale value?

The current average of $6,663 sits slightly below last year's $6,910.

That downward move suggests the Journey is still in a buyer-friendly pricing phase, which can help you if you’re shopping now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect value retention to be a weaker point relative to stronger-resale crossovers.

The market’s softer pricing can make the Journey easier to buy at a discount, but it also means you should be realistic about how much value it may hold over time. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Dodge Journey safe?

The 2014 Dodge Journey earns four-star ratings from NHTSA overall and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests. It receives the top rating of Good in all IIHS tests for which it has been assessed, though it was not eligible for a Top Safety Pick designation because the small-overlap frontal-impact test had not been conducted at the time.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

The Journey includes a standard knee airbag for the driver, while a reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors are available depending on trim level. Dodge does not offer more advanced safety technology here, so you should not expect a modern driver-assistance suite.

The main caveat is that the IIHS had not yet performed the small-overlap frontal test on this model year, which limits its award eligibility even though the results it did receive were strong.

Should I buy a 2014 Dodge Journey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• There’s plenty to like about a 2014 Dodge Journey, from its low pricetag and practical interior to its powerful V6 engine and good crash-test ratings.

The bottom line: If you want a low-cost crossover with useful space, available V6 power, and strong safety results, the 2014 is the right place to focus. If you’re especially price-sensitive, keep an eye out for listings near the low end of the range and prioritize clean history and condition over trim upgrades.
