Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Buick LaCrosse earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the comfort, spaciousness, and smooth ride, along with the upscale interior and safety features. That lines up well with the LaCrosse’s use case as a calm, refined sedan for you if you want a premium-feeling daily driver rather than something sporty or flashy. The market also shows 26.7% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that feels comfortable, spacious, and smooth, with an upscale cabin and safety features that help reinforce confidence over time. The expert notes also describe above-average reliability from one major source, while the other source is more cautious, especially on V6 models. Buick’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty and 6-year/70,000-mile powertrain coverage add some ownership reassurance.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that reliability can vary by powertrain and mileage, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Buick LaCrosse?

At 55.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on signs of prior body damage, uneven wear, and any evidence that comfort or electronics features have been neglected. Because some owners mention missing technology and value concerns, it’s worth paying close attention to how well the car’s condition matches its asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim includes dual-zone climate control, remote start, 17-inch alloy wheels, ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth streaming audio and iPod compatibility. The Leather trim adds a rear-view camera, push-button start, heated power-adjustable front seats with memory settings, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, rear parking sensors, and leather upholstery, while AWD versions also get 19-inch alloy wheels.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is the eAssist powertrain with a direct-injected 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, a 15kW lithium-ion battery, an electric motor, and a 6-speed automatic transmission. It makes 182 hp and is tuned for efficiency and smooth, predictable delivery rather than sporty response.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes 8 airbags, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with brake assist, electronic stability control, and OnStar telematics with emergency response services and roadside assistance. Driver Confidence Package 1 adds adaptive HID headlights, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, a blind-spot monitor, and a head-up display. Driver Confidence Package 2 adds intelligent cruise control, automatic collision preparation, and a Safety Alert seat.
• Infotainment: The car uses an 8-inch touchscreen display with crisp graphics and customizable icons. It supports Bluetooth calling and streaming, Pandora access, steering-wheel controls, and enhanced voice recognition. The gauge cluster screen can also show fuel economy, tire pressure, maps for the optional navigation system, and safety alerts.
• Fuel efficiency: The eAssist setup is rated at 25 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined.

Which 2014 Buick LaCrosse trim should I buy?

The 2014 Buick LaCrosse is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Leather, Premium I, Premium II.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and still want the core comfort and tech features, including the 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth streaming, and the eAssist powertrain. It suits you best if you care more about a refined daily driver than extra luxury add-ons.
• Leather: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a rear-view camera, push-button start, heated power front seats with memory, rear parking sensors, and leather upholstery. If you want the strongest balance of equipment and price, this is the trim to target.
• Premium I: This trim adds an 11-speaker Bose sound system, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, a power rear sunshade, and an upgraded suspension on FWD models. It makes sense if you want a more upscale cabin and are willing to pay for it.
• Premium II: This is the top trim and adds 20-inch alloy wheels and a navigation system. It’s the choice if you want the most fully equipped LaCrosse.

Driver Confidence Package 1 is the key safety-package add-on, and Driver Confidence Package 2 is available on Premium I and II models.

Should I buy a 2014 Buick LaCrosse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.56% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The updated 2014 LaCrosse brings contemporary styling, ultra-premium-grade refinement and materials, and leading safety and convenience technologies.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2014 if you want the updated styling and premium-feeling cabin, especially if you can find a clean, well-priced example with the equipment you want. If you’re more price-sensitive, keep shopping carefully and compare condition, mileage, and trim content closely, because the best value will usually come from the right listing rather than the newest badge alone.
