How much does the 2014 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 6.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 611 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2014 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Acura MDX earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Performance and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its luxury, comfort, performance, spacious interior, smooth ride, and fuel economy. That lines up with Acura’s pitch for this model year: a refined three-row luxury crossover that still keeps an athletic edge, so you get a premium feel without giving up everyday usefulness.

With 35.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2014 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers’ feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with recurring praise for comfort, performance, and fuel economy. The expert review also describes the MDX as a better SUV in almost every respect than the previous version, with a powertrain and chassis that feel finely tuned and well sorted.

The ownership picture still calls for a careful used-car check, though, because some owners mention seat comfort and material-quality concerns, so you should pay close attention to wear, trim condition, and how the cabin has held up over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Acura MDX?

At 57.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, interior wear, and whether the cabin materials and seats show more deterioration than you’d expect for the mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base version is relatively light on technology beyond Bluetooth, music streaming, hands-free text messaging, a USB port, a reversing camera, and Jewel Eye LED headlights, while the Technology Package adds keyless access, navigation, premium audio, GPS-linked climate control, and several driver-assistance features. The Technology and Entertainment Package adds rear-seat DVD entertainment, and the Advance and Entertainment Package adds the widest feature set, including premium perforated leather seats, ventilated front seats, remote engine start, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and collision mitigation braking.
• Powertrain: The 3.5-liter V6 makes 290 hp and uses Variable Cylinder Management to help conserve fuel when cruising. A 6-speed automatic is standard, front-wheel drive is available, and SH-AWD is optional.
• Safety package: The Technology Package includes Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind Spot Information, while the Advance and Entertainment Package adds Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow, Lane Keeping Assist, and Collision Mitigation Braking. The base trim misses those added driver-assistance features.
• Infotainment: Every MDX gets twin dashboard screens, and the upper-level packages add navigation, AcuraLink real-time traffic, a premium sound system, and a rear-seat entertainment setup with a 9-inch screen; the Advance and Entertainment Package upgrades that to a 16.2-inch widescreen display.
• Fuel efficiency: The fully loaded test vehicle was rated at 18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, with a combined 21 mpg.

Which 2014 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2014 Acura MDX is offered in 3 trim levels: base, Technology Package, and Advance and Entertainment Package.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the one to choose if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the added convenience, infotainment, and driver-assistance features found higher up the range. It still gives you the core MDX experience, including the V6, twin screens, and the standard reversing camera.
• Technology Package: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the biggest everyday upgrades without jumping all the way to the top package. You get navigation, premium audio, keyless access, GPS-linked climate control, and important safety tech like Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind Spot Information.
• Advance and Entertainment Package: Choose this if you want the most fully equipped MDX, especially if you value rear-seat entertainment, ventilated front seats, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and collision mitigation braking. It is the most feature-rich version, but it makes the most sense if you’ll actually use the added equipment.

The Technology Package is the best-value trim, and the safety package note is that the more advanced driver-assistance features are concentrated in the upper trims rather than the base model.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Acura MDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 611 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,034, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $12,034 sits slightly below last year's $12,844.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Because the MDX still has solid demand and a strong ownership reputation, a clean, well-kept example should remain easier to move than one with visible wear or a questionable history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Acura MDX safe?

The 2014 MDX earns Good ratings in both the moderate overlap frontal-impact test and the side-impact test from IIHS, and it earns an Advanced front crash prevention rating.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

The Technology Package adds Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind Spot Information, while the Advance and Entertainment Package adds Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow, Lane Keeping Assist, and Collision Mitigation Braking. The base trim does not include those higher-level driver-assistance features.

Should I buy a 2014 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 redesign brings a more refined, better-rounded MDX with strong performance and a polished driving feel.

The bottom line: You should buy the 2014 if you want the redesigned MDX’s stronger performance, better refinement, and current market softness working in your favor. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may still be worth comparing, but the 2014 stands out as the more polished and better-balanced choice.

How does the 2014 Acura MDX compare to the 2014 Honda Pilot?

Our experts score the 2014 Acura MDX 7.8/10 and the 2014 Honda Pilot 6.8/10. The MDX is the more powerful and more efficient of the two, while the Pilot undercuts it on price and offers more listings to shop from. You’re also getting a more premium, better-equipped luxury crossover with the MDX, but the Pilot may make more sense if your priority is lower upfront cost and broader inventory.
