Why it stands out
The 2014 Acura MDX distinguishes itself as a well-rounded luxury crossover SUV that expertly balances comfort, performance, and practicality. One of its key strengths lies in its powerful 3.5-liter V6 engine, producing 290 horsepower, delivering a blend of power and fuel efficiency, achieving an impressive 21 mpg combined. Expert test drives praise its finely tuned driving dynamics, making it a pleasure on both city roads and highways. The luxurious cabin is outfitted with upscale materials, although a more conservative design compared to previous models may divide opinions.
For families, the 2014 MDX offers the versatility of three rows, accommodating up to seven passengers with decent cargo space—important for everyday usability. Moreover, the transition to more advanced technology is evident, especially with the available dual display screens, which enhance both connectivity and entertainment options. While the MDX has markedly improved overall, some concerns about rear seat comfort and reduced interior flair compared to earlier iterations have been noted by users. Nevertheless, it remains a compelling option for those seeking a blend of luxury and practicality in the SUV market.

I can't get over the handling. So responsive with a very tight turning radius. Lots of power, nearly 300 HP. The engine has the ability to shut down three of the six cylinders under certain steady state conditions so the highway mileage is usually around 27-28 mpg. Highly recommend this vehicle. I have owned about 70 cars thus far and would put this one in the top three. A few years back I wrote a book about 40 of the more interesting ones, titled Forty Cars That Owned Me. I'll have to add this one when I revise the book to bring it up to date.
