The Tiguan, in full trim, is a near- luxury CUV that is still a big secret in the industry. The VW costs 10% more than a RAV4 or CRV, but offers 30% better build quality. Fit and finish are superb, and the substantial quality of the Tiguan sets it above many of its Asian and American competitors. Cargo room is smaller than the others, and the drivetrain does make an unrefined sound under acceleration. But the Tiguan is an absolute pleasure to drive, and its GTI- like lateral handling will quickly win over most drivers. If you're looking to save 3500 dollars, go buy the homely RAV4 or Honda CRV. If you want a CUV that is attainable, stylish, and built for driving, get the VW Tiguan.
