The 2007 Ford Explorer faces the challenge of a shrinking market for full-size SUVs. However, the Explorer's reputation for rugged comfort gives it something of an edge over the competition, while its less-than-dazzling fuel efficiency might work against it. Updates to the '07 Ford Explorer include a slight tweak to the front-end styling, a new range of exterior colors, and the introduction of a power-fold option for the third row seats. Three trims are available for the '07 Explorer: XLT, Eddie Bauer, and Limited; the XLT is also offered with a special Ironman package, commemorating Ford's sponsorship of the triathlon event. The 2007 Explorer ships with a 4.0 liter, single overhead cam V6 engine that puts out 210 horsepower and delivers 254 lb.-ft. of torque. New for this year is an optional upgrade to a 4.6 liter, single overhead cam 24-valve V8 clocked at 292 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft. of torque.
