2006 Toyota Corolla LE Review
by Pafkata

Can't go wrong with one of those!

Very good car! Low cost Maintenance beautiful gas milage and yet fun to drive. Had it as a second owner at 20K miles drove it the last 50K and no repairs what so ever, well except oil change tires and brakes but this is maintenance.

My sales rep was Anthony Hill and he promptly guided me through the process and sent me lots of images of the car and answered any questions or concerns that I had. There was no undue pressure and the sales rep and financing persons were fair and honest. In the end, I purchased the vehicle I was interested in and received it a few days ago. No issues and drives like a dream. Would deal with them again. Side note, somewhere along the line they misplaced the spare key but said when they find it they will send it to me."

Was told it was not made ready until another week and they would contact me when I could come see and test drive and that I would be the first one to see it with the opportunity to buy it. After a week I contacted them again since I had not heard from them. They told me it was not ready yet since it needed repairs(inside top lining) and this was the only repair it needed for make ready status. After few days went by and I get an email stating it was sold as is to another person in as-is condition? Thought it was being repaired all this time. I lost out on 2 other great deals due to their DISHONEST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! The vehicle was listed at $5,291 and when they emailed me to inform me it had been sold they offer another vehicle for $17,000 plus dollars. WILL NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SAN MARCOS TOYOTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Avg. Dealer Rating: (13 reviews) "On April 27th, I submitted an inquiry regarding a car. A salesman promptly responded to my inquiry and called me about the vehicle. I told him that I would be interested in trading in a car and financing the rest of the purchase price on a five-year note at a budget not to exceed $300 a month. After notifying this salesman of my personal credit score and appraised trade-in value, he told me that with the appropriate rate, I might be able to meet my budget of $300 a month at an amount of $299 per month. This helped me as I live in San Antonio, so having an idea that this was a vehicle I might be able to afford, I agreed to drive up to Austin the next morning to test-drive the vehicle. I test-drove the car the next morning and really liked the car, so much so that if it fell within my budget, I would purchase the vehicle. The salesman and I sat down to look at the numbers again. He showed me a piece of paper with a dealer price of $29,200 with an additional discount of $4,000 for a new price of $25,200. This would have allowed me to meet my budgetary constraints with a monthly payment of $299.20 on a five-year note with my trade-in valued at $10,500. I was ecstatic that I would able able to meet my budget with such a great car. The salesman put a line down on the paper for me to sign to agree to the price, and I told him I didn’t feel comfortable signing it until we knew my interest rate from the credit approval in case adjustments needed to be made. While he was about to run the credit request, the salesman got a call from his manager. After talking with the manager, the salesman came back to me and said they had made a mistake. They were not supposed to take the $4,000 off of the dealer price, but off of the MSRP price. So until the very last minute of the deal, this went unnoticed. This does not make sense because the discounted dealer price was already advertised. I only came to Austin with the idea that the price would be reduced further ($4,000) to meet my budgetary constraints. After later speaking to the manager to let him know that I believed he should honor the agreement, he told me that it would be ‘insane’ to get an additional $4,000 off of the car, insinuating that what I had in mind for the price was unreasonable. But apparently, it wasn’t unreasonable enough for this new sales price to be looked over TWICE, once on Friday and again on Saturday. The manager chalked it up to a computer mistake, when in reality, I feel that this was done to get me to drive to Austin to try and sell me the vehicle at a price that they knew they were never going to offer. If you are in the market for a VW car, I would wholeheartedly recommend any other dealership beside this one. Look for one that’s honest and transparent. "
