Overview

When is a Ford F-150 not a Ford F-150? When it's a Lincoln Mark LT. Taking over where the Blackwood failed, the 2006 Lincoln Mark LT arrives this year as a gussied up version of everybody's favorite utility pickup. Disguised under Lincoln's oversized grille and lights, and awash in a sea of chrome, the 2006 Mark LT seeks to combine the utility of a pickup with Lincoln's reputation for upscale comfort and luxury.
Available in either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive, the full-sized pickup features two rows of seats, four doors, and a choice of either a 5.5- or 6.5-foot pickup bed (just like the F-150 SuperCrew). The 4WD is not as technologically advanced as some AWD systems in similarly-sized trucks (GMC Sierra or Cadillac EXT), but does come with low-range gearing for off-road use. It should never be engaged on dry pavement, however. The 5.4-liter V8 engine is paired with a 4-speed automatic, delivering 300-hp and 365 ft-lbs of torque. Remembering that this is a pickup and not just a luxury truck, the 2006 Mark LT can tow up to 8900 pounds. As expected for a Lincoln vehicle, handling is smooth and the ride quiet. But, as expected from a pickup, the fuel economy is a disappointing 14/18 mpg, something to consider in this age or rising gas prices.
Many reviewers and owners criticize the 2006 Mark LT for not being luxurious enough. Given Lincoln's reputation for high-end features, many feel the quality of materials used and lack of such items as power front seats are a surprising oversight and fail to distinguish the Lincoln as anything more than a chromed-over F-150. Offered only in one trim, the pickup does feature leather seats, leather and wood accents, heated front seats, a CD player, and power accessories. A sunroof, power-adjustable pedals, and DVD player all cost extra. Another oversight is the lack of side curtain airbags or stability control, even as an option. Dual front airbags, 4-wheel ABS, and 18-inch wheels represent the major safety equipment.
The roomy cabin stands as a highlight, with plenty of front and rear legroom, thanks to a 139-inch wheelbase. The length, however, (18.5-feet overall), does inhibit maneuverability. Front captain's chairs recline, and a power sliding rear window is optional. The pickup bed can be made more utilitarian with the addition of a bed extender. Most owners of the 2006 Lincoln Mark LT seem very satisfied with the combination of functionality and luxury. They particularly like the comfortable cabin, stylish exterior, and the fact that its a more unique sight on the road than the popular (and even more upscale) Cadillac EXT. The V8 does lack some highway acceleration power, and many drivers expected more high-end features from a Lincoln. The biggest complaint remains the gas mileage.

Lincoln's Mark LT is one of the finest and best looking pick-ups on the market. With a shiny chrome exterior and a soft plush leathered interior, what more can you ask for from a white collar pick-up truck? The Mark LT is powered by the same reliable engine from her sister model, the Ford F-150. They both utilize a 5.4L V8 engine that puts out about 300 hp and a little over 365 ft-lbs of torque. On the down side due to it's weight and poor aerodynamics she averages only about 14 city & 18 hwy. An upside the Mark LT has, is its space, in fact it has plenty of it. There's more then enough space for five adults to sit comfortably and don't forget about the huge bed in back. Along with its large size comes a large list of features, to automatic a/c and headed seats, to its 7 speaker audio system with subwoofer. The Lincoln Mark LT has all the features anyone would expect when they purchase a Lincoln automobile. But it comes with the safety, reliability and repair costs of a ford which is always great features if you plan on keeping your motor vehicle until it dies.

They all come loaded with options. Most are well cared for based on the clients who originally purchased them. Look out for cold weather vehicles with too much rust. If you want a top end luxury truck, this is it!

I had two mid-nineties Lincoln Town Cars. I wanted a truck so I found one with low miles within an hour of my home on Car Gurus. This truck is comfortable and it meets all my needs. I am enjoying it. "@v@"
