The Mark LT, a luxury pickup based on the redesigned Ford F-150, is now in its second year. Just one look at its nose and abundance of chrome tells you it's the Navigator's little brother. The Mark LT's 5.4-liter, three-valve V8 truly means business; it provides 365 lb.-ft. of torque; the truck is capable of towing more than 8500 pounds when equipped with tow package. But no matter where you drive it or what you're pulling, your ride should be quiet; the trademark Quiet Steel construction, thick glass, an extra-stiff body and frame, and other insulating measures keep down road noise. A 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and electronic throttle control comes standard and delivers smooth shifting. The NHTSA will vouch for the Mark LT as a safe vehicle: it earned 5 stars in their crash-testing and 4 in the rollover test. Safety features run from multi-stage air bags and seat belt pretensioners to ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution on rear brakes - a big help especially when the truck is carrying heavy loads. Crime is kept at bay thanks to the SecuriLock perimeter-alarm system, which is activated if somebody tries to enter the vehicle after the key is removed, and it won't allow the engine to be started without the coded key. The remote keyless entry comes with a panic alarm, and the driver's door also has a keyless-entry pad for punching in an access code. Other notable standard features include an Audiophile sound system with seven speakers plus an 8-inch subwoofer, Electronic Automatic Temperature Control, and 18-inch spoked wheels. Two bed lengths are available, as is a four-wheel drive system with a limited-slip option. The Mark LT is available in seven paint finishes with three interior color choices.
