Overview

This year saw the end of the fourth generation of the ES sedan. Lexus would continue to tinker with its design, power plant, and above all its image. The arrival of a larger engine in 2007 would signify the beginning of a new generation. In 2006, the option of satellite radio was the only addition to the ES 330. Also worth noting are new SAE testing procedures, which lowered the sedan's horsepower rating by seven.
Lexus continued with the same 3.3 liter V-6, boosted in power and made more efficient by Toyota's Variable Valve Timing Technology with intelligence. Revised SAE methods dropped the horsepower rating from 225 to 218, but torque remained the same at 225 pound-feet. The ES 330 modestly progressed from 0 to 60 mph in just over eight seconds, but this is the last year in which such sluggish performance numbers would be attributed to the car.
Many owners continued to cheer the ES 330 for value in its class. While the ES is considerable departure from BMW or Mercedes with respect to performance, many comparison shoppers found the Lexus interior more inviting. The arrival of a new model in 2007 would add performance to already well-known ES attributes like silken ride and silence interior.

This car is probably one of the most reliable and most economical. Lexus is known for its durability and reliability. The leather interior is very comfortable and luxurious. Xenon lights light up the road as daylight. Fuel economy is great.

I purchased an ES 330 March 2009. I have had it for over a year now. I have put 50,000 kms on it. I have had 0 issues with it so far. The acceleration is ample. The brakes are great. The handling is awesome, more so with the one I have over the base model because it has the 4 step adjustable electronic suspension, with 16 computer controlled variants. (It senses and adjusts the dampening rate to each wheel independently within 10 thousands of a second!) The build quality is superb. It is very quiet and comfortable. The only reason I ever find to stop on a long drive is to fuel up, or a washroom break. Mine has the Mark Levinson stereo which is the best factory installed stereo available from a car manufacturer, exclusive to Lexus. The Lexus stereo is great, it has approx. .10 THD where the Mark Levinson stereo has a .01 THD (THD= Total Harmonic Distortion) The Levinson sound is recording studio quality. The voice activated Navigation system is user friendly, and works flawlessly. The interior is very classy and you will find yourself wanting to touch every surface. The body styling stands out and is very sleek. The optional 17" wheels add a sportier look. The gas mileage is reasonable. This car is fun to drive and rolling on the tourque when accelerating from a traffic light or passing on the highway sets you back in your seat a little, as a confident low growl rises from under the hood. The handling is great for such a sedan and the VSC works very well in winter. With 4 snow tires and the Traction control on, makes your snowy commute a comfortable, confident breeze, with the VSC there to help correct your mistakes! I am quite impressed with its foul weather performance. This model year has a total of 8 airbags, and the highest safety rating at that time. I am confident in saying that you can expect MANY years of minimal or virtually NO trouble with this Lexus, (or any Lexus for that matter). Lexus has a huge reputation for reliability, especially for the ES models. They are even rated higher reliability than their parent company, Toyota. My previous car (which I still have) is a 1993 Toyota Camry. It has nearly 500,000 Kms on it and is still extremely reliable! So give one a test drive and great consideration. If you do buy one, I am confident you will find it as pleasing as I have! Happy motoring!, Ed, NL, Canada.
