Overview
The 2004 Toyota Celica saw very little change from the previous year. The only addition was the availability of high-intensity headlights for both trim levels. The 2004 model year was the beginning of the end for the Celica. The sports coupe market was no longer a big moneymaker like it once was, and the Celica had lost its 70s and 80s-era reputation as a racing car and was gaining one as a "girl car."
The 2004 Toyota Celica was available only as a hatchback, which came as a GT or sportier GT-S. The GT came with a 1.8 liter, 140 horsepower engine. The sportier GT-S, which had distinctive exterior and interior styling, came with a 1.8-liter, 180 horsepower engine. This generation was also the first Celica to come available with a six-speed manual transmission. The GT engine got about 27/34 mpg, and the GT-S engine got about 23/30 mpg.
Drivers of the 2004 Celica love the way it looks and handles. Some, mostly GT owners, wish the car had more power, and poor visibility out the rear window is a frequent complaint.

- * Performance: – Acceleration: good, but could be improved slightly considering the engine the car is equipped with. – Braking: It could use a bit more brake power, but it's ok as it is. – Handling: outstanding with new tires, otherwise it's just ok. Very reliable, predictable and fun to drive. Clutch and gearbox sometimes lack precision, but not too much. * Build Quality – Not a single problem in 5 years of intensive use. Even after a small crash it has never given me any problems. – Very little space for the back seats. Usually, the car only fits 3 people max, as I will need to move the driver seat all the way back. – Loads of space for luggage, etc. * Appearance – interior is unbeatable. previous BMW 3-series are awful in comparison to this. Exterior is also great. Designed in 1999 and still looks great now in 2009. The wheels could be bigger and the back is not very nice without the spoiler, but it's still a very good looking car. * Cost of Ownership – Depends on how its driven, but it's definitely not an eco-friendly car :) Official Toyota service is THE BEST. I like their service more than Cadillac or Mercedez, and it's cheaper than VW-Audi too! * Fun Factor – Extremely fun to drive when road is dry. When wet, be very careful and know your limits.

Fantastic all round sports coupe , economical averages 37mpg and 42 mpg on long distances. It looks great and handles ace, I have never had a reliability problem it as now completed 106,000 miles with only services and sounds and drives no different than when it had done 40,000 miles. The negatives are Tyre noise can annoying and at 106,000 miles I have a slight whine in 6th gear after it as traveled more than 20 miles

simple yet elegant. I love my car and the gas mileage is pretty legit. super fun to drive thanks to the six speed manual transmission. excellent handling, amazing acceleration just an awesome car all around. woo! i love my celica

In my opinion: For those who are looking for an economical 2+2 Japanese sports car, look no further. Good fuel economy, can sit 4 people (including driver), reliable handling (even on stock suspension) and good built. But do not expect it to be fast like those cars you see on F&F.
