2003 Honda Element EX AWD Review
by Polno

Bring back the Element!

I am one of the original owners of an Element (2003)-mine just turned 185,000 and is going strong. This car has been my workhorse, traveling the country with my dogs. I am looking for another when I'm ready to replace Ellie. Just to update, at 180,000 miles, had a problem with shifting. Was just a spring that broke in the clutch, but decided to...

Avg. Dealer Rating: (12 reviews) "I contacted Apex Motors about a 2016 Toyota Camry SE. In the advertisement it had 2 pictures. One from the rear&side and the other one of the odometer showing a little over 9,000 miles. When I called Ronnie and asked about its condition he told me it had been in an accident. He sent me the pictures of the car showing the front. The right finder and hood were crumpled up and the front bumper was completely missing. Ronnie told me that I had to give him the full $14,900 cash for the car and come back in a week and pick it up. I asked if he could fix it first and I could give him the money after it was repaired. he said he would not fix it until he had a buyer. Eventually I asked if we could put all that he wanted to do in a contract and sign it and he said he would. However my wife as well as others at the bank said it would be best and less risky to have him repair it before I gave him all the money. I decided to walk away from the deal because Ronnie would not repair it before I gave him the full $14,900 for the car "

Avg. Dealer Rating: (37 reviews) "The sales rep was difficult to get a hold of. The interest rate was high so I went to my bank because I have excellent credit and knew I could get a better rate. I live 2.5 hours away, thus tried to have everything set up in advance, come in, drive the car, sign on the dotted line and out, but instead was forced to go to the credit department anyway where I waited for nearly an hour as other credit officers roamed the halls, texted, ate, sat around and talked tossed a ball up in the air and caught it at his desk etc before my unlucky draw of "Leon." He was cocky to the point of being rude and made a comment about how my car wasn't worth much, the car I was buying, and did this in front of the loan officer from my hometown bank who was on speaker phone. He was rude to me, and to her to the point she finally said something to him about it. However, when I ran into problems, Kai, the manager of the used division did step up (4 of 5 stars there too) When the sales rep was impossible to reach and I asked not to deal with her anymore, he stepped in, but then when it came time to pick up the car, she was the one calling, and that I was supposed to deal with when I got there, then i ended up with AJ... he was "ok" but then the car sent up trouble lights before I even got it half way home, I had to take it to my mechanic who said it had to go to a Toyota dealership. The dealership determined the repair would be $2,600.00. I called Kai and he began questioning me as to how I knew this in what felt bulliysh to me. Thank heaven about that time, the service tech from Jerry Durant called on the other lined and I just conferenced him in and let Kai try to bully Paul, the service rep in Granbury. Paul could back up every code and that is when the ball got rolling. I have no doubt they knew the car had problems when I bought it, however, and this is where they move from 3 stars to 4, their service tech had been with Toyota for 26 years and knew that the part I needed was under warranty and Toyota picked up the tab for the entire repair. I ended up paying $159.00 for a brake fluid flush. The four stars is to the lead mechanic who picked up on what Toyota of Dallas missed and Jerry Durant Toyota of Granbury missed. The car had been discounted, but I would much rather have been told about the issue, or it discovered and fixed before I bought it because the issue was with the brakes and it was so bad, Toyota of Granbury didn't even let me drive it home and come back because they said that part would just cause the brakes to out and out fail and I would crash. I could have been killed trying to get that car from David McDavid home and they let me drive away from there at nearly 7pm, half of the drive in the dark, with my 13 year old son in the car. We didn't get home until 10:15 that night and arrived there at 3:00 pm, which is what I was trying to avoid. Nobody should EVER have to deal with Leon in finance. In the end, it seems almost by accident, I have a good little car that is getting great gas mileage which was the purpose for the purchase because I have to travel so much for work. "
