In the year before a significant re-design, the GMC Savana passenger van didn't change much. This modern day Mystery Mobile gives you two engine choices: a 4.3 L, 200 hp V6 and a 5.7 L, 255 hp V8 powertrain. The 2002 Savana comes in 6 trims: the G1500, G2500, G2500 Extended, G3500, G3500 Extended, and SLT. All trims have 2WD in the last year before GMC introduced AWD for the Savana.

Gas mileage comes out to around 13 mpg in the city and 18 on the highway. If you've got a lot of friends and family to drive around, the 2002 GMC Savana has plenty of room for everyone with 7, 8, 12, and 15 passenger configurations. All trims have standard ABS brakes and max towing capacity ranges from 6400 to 10000 lbs., depending on the trim. Cargo capacity comes out to 267 cubic feet for Regular trims and 317 for Extended.

Overall, the '02 Savana gets props for its roomy interior and solid engine choices. However, material quality could use some improvement. If you need a van with good seating capacity and a decent engine, this older generation Savana should get the job done. Anyone looking for a modern Savana should go for something from 2003 or later.
