Overview
Other than an improved V6 in the G1500 trim, not much changed for GMC's passenger van in Y2K. The 2000 Savana has 5 trims: the G1500, G2500, G2500 Extended, G3500, and G3500 Extended. Depending on the size of your crew, this lengthy van can carry 8, 12, or 15 passengers.
You'll get your choice of two powertrains: a 4.3 L, 200 hp V6 and a 5.7 L, 255 hp V8. Both have 4 speed automatic transmission and get you around 14 mpg in the city, 18 on the highway. All 5 trims give you standard ABS brakes and air conditioning. Options include power windows, power door locks, power seats, and cd player. Towing capacity runs anywhere from 7300 to 10000 lbs. depending the trim.
Overall, drivers like the roomy interior and capable powertrains. However, they'd like better handling and materials. The 2000 Savana gives fans of the passenger van a viable domestic option. If you need something more modern, look for a model from 2003 or later.
