Overview

The Toyota Camry Solara was virtually unchanged in 2001. A new color was added to the choices, but other than that, the 2001 Camry Solara is identical to the 2000.
The 2001 Camry Solara came in two trim levels: the base SE and the well-appointed SLE. The SE comes standard with a 2.2 liter, four-cylinder engine, and the SLE comes standard with a V6, 3.0-liter engine. Unlike its competitors the Honda Accord and the Chrysler Sebring, the 2000 Camry Solara was available with a five-speed manual transmission with the V6 engine. Fuel economy is about 20 to 30 miles per gallon depending on the engine. It is also available as a convertible.
Fans of the 2001 Toyota Camry Solara love that it offers typical Camry reliability and quality, but with a sportier look and feel. The interior is roomy enough for a coupe, and the trunk is a good size. One request from drivers was a remote trunk release.

The interior is just as good looking as the outside of the vehicle. When you sit in the cabin, it makes you feel like your in a luxury car. No corners were cut to save money for the interior at all! The exterior styling of this car is one Toyota's first make of this car and one of their best looking cars. Lexus was going to bring this out as a Lexus but Toyota needed a sports car on their production line! The performance of this car can creep on you. With 190hp(200ft. lb of torque) at the crank, the 3 liter V6 moves quickly and quietly.

This car is great if you want a performance vehicle that is different from the rest and easy to own. Trunk is much larger than most sedans, in crown Vic land! It has Camry reliability with 200 horses and a tight suspension. Feels very safe with its high belt line and side airbags. Traction control is great in winter weather. I've loved this car but with baby on the way it's time to get something with more doors.

The 2001 Toyota Solara V6 coupe is a great all-around car for young professionals who want more power for their commute without sacrificing too much fuel efficiency. The interior has some nice touches and it feels higher end than you might expect. The back seat is roomier than most other coupes, and the cabin offers plenty of head room for taller drivers.
