For the 1991 Audi 80, the 2.0, 4-cylinder engine in the STD sedan is replaced by the 2.3-liter, 5-cylinder 130-hp engine already in the quattro. Though both trims come with a 5-speed manual, the optional automatic transmission is now a 4-speed instead of a 3-speed. ABS brakes are standard on the quattro, as are the features that previously were sold as a Sports package (sport-style seating and a sports-tuned suspension). Fog lights are standard on all models.

The AWD feature of the quattro makes the Audi 80 fearless and turns this family car into a tank. Complaints point out that the trunk and backseat seem small. Otherwise, it's the standard litany about outrageously expensive Audi parts and finding a good mechanic who knows how to fix an Audi.
